The crowning example of getting value out of useless army: Battle of Africa 1 finals, where Tatoh killed two vils and denied a market in Imperial Age with a leftover drush.

Such a solid point. I like “expiring army” the best as a name. It implies it’s on its way out and soon won’t be useful, but there’s still time to salvage it.

I like to do this most of all with camels. You make them to deal with knights your opponent completely switches and you just annoy them with the camels. They're one of the fastest units in the game so you can run around looking for soft spots to attack and then when you feel/see the enemy army is coming you run them away. If you keep them alive decently long, you're always saying to your opponent two things. 1. I still have some anti cavalry and 2. I'm being an annoying prick.

pro players revealing such strats is the reason why the 1-1.2k bracket today is the old 2-2.2k in skill level and i actually love it!

another nice example that we noobs are very bad at is when your scout is 1hp, we usually waste it, but you can use it to explore or kill monks in a way that is a game changer.

The secret trick is to make every video title a clickbait!

Overall brilliant video! There is one scenario that I have a different opinion on, let’s say you are frank and you have 20 xbows going into imp. If opponent is switching to halbs, usually he can’t afford to get full infantry armor right away, so the crossbow still does a lot of damage to halbs. Even to the point that he is hesitant to transition into halbs and eventually lose to Frank cavlier due to the lack of units. So I would say trading units are situational. It’s like Persian trashbow in late game, it is still better than skirms dealing with halbs.

thanks for sharing this, you ofc already touched the subject on stream but I feel like it was worth taking the time to dive deep on the matter.

In your video on "coaching MBL" there was that point in the game where you asked him like "why are you still ahead? Do you know why you're ahead? It's because your unit scales and his doesn't". This video is about what to do when your unit doesn't scale. It's interesting in MBL's case, you implied that having a unit that doesn't scale means you're lost, but here you're giving advice on how to win in that position give an example or two. I dunno it feels like there's a lot more to discuss on this topic.

I tend to go scouts/skirms but often don’t want to tech into elite skirms so often I’ll try to use the leftover skirms as a diversion of the enemy army. The opponent feels like he has to chase the skirms down or it can pop back up in his base, meaning I can draw them as far away from my base as possible while I can buy time for my castle age composition. Also, I’m trash at the game so technically all my army is useless 11.
