Fr I tried on liner pens + highlighters before, just that I only use the basic colors, without shading and stuff, it's a style of black and white plus 1~3 vibrant colors, I found that interesting too

i loved drawing this way in school, when i had limited supplies on me! it pushes you to think creatively about how to make the best of what you have, while also taking the pressure off since you're using cheap materials

The thing I love about drawing with highlighters, is that no matter what I do the colours always look good together

Okay, I use highlighters in my art word regularly, and you CAN get darker then purple. You can get a kind of brownish looking colour by layering orange, blue, and one layer of green. If you want a really dark colour, you have to go back and forth a little (like 2-3 layers of orange and blue with 1 layer of green) and you’ll get a very muddy, kinda brownish grey, but you know, still with blue and orange. Theres a lot you can do with highlighters if you just experiment, do a lot of layers, and have fun with it! Also you can get purple highlighters too, they just aren’t super common, but if you look enough, every store with office/school supplies has atleast one set with purple
