NDA stands for National Defence Academy. 12th class pass student of the 10+2 pattern of School Education can apply for Army Wing of National Defence Academy. NA stands for Naval Academy. Only 12th Pass students of the 10+2 pattern of School Education with subjects Physics and Mathematics can apply for Naval Wing. NDA & NA is termed as NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY & NAVAL ACADEMY EXAMINATION. However, there are different wings for which the eligibility and requirements are different. You have to opt for the wing you aspire to join. For Army Wing of NDA, you need to have passed/appearing 12th of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent exam, while for Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy, you should have passed or appearing 10+2 of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics.
What is National Defence Academy?
National Defence Academy is a training institution where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Air Force, and the Navy are trained together before they go for their pre- commission training. To join National Defence Academy candidates have to appear for the entrance exam (conducted by UPSC), followed by extensive interviews by the Services Selection Board (SSB) and then the medical test. Those who then get selected in all the three stages of testing procedure will go for the a preliminary training of academics (including physical training) for a period of three years at the National Defence Academy, at Khadakwasla, Pune. The objective of training is to impart academic and technological training of the highest quality in order to equip cadets with appropriate qualification as foundation for their service careers.
What is Indian Naval Academy?
The Indian Navy chose Ezhimala, Kerala to locate the Indian Naval Academy due to its picturesque surrounding, seafaring traditions of the region and also because of its rich historical past. This institute is known as the largest Naval Academy in Asia. To join Indian Naval Academy candidates have to appear UPSC entry NDA (NA) exams and also can join through 10+2 B.Tech (spl) entry. Those who fill choice as Navy complete 3 years of B.Tech in NDA and the remaining 1year in Indian Naval Academy (INA). And those cadets, who choose Naval Academy, directly go to INA, Kerala for 4 years training. On a successful completion of four years training cadets get commissioned and join the executive branch of Indian Navy. The Indian Naval Academy aims towards training the young men and women to be professional officers in the Navy by providing them quality education along with the required professional naval training.
