There has been no change to the rate of inflation which remained at 2%, the target rate for the Bank of England, according to official figures.

But the market expectation is now there will be no cut in August when Bank officials next meet to consider rates.

No one’s mentioning that inflation, from a compounded perspective, prices have increased from June 2021 to June 2024 by 22%. *Thats 11 years worth of inflation in 3 years*

Why don’t prices come down? In the usual chain restaurants menu prices are still up, notably in the prices of drinks too, food and drink all up an extra £2 or so still.

Ah yes another 2% on top of the 20+% we’ve already had. Excellent.

Newly added to the products used to calculate inflation are: taxidermy alligators and anti-gravity bathroom paint.

It’s all a con we know inflation is higher than this. Any calculation that doesn’t include housing is a joke.

Just to be clear, 2% CPI isnt the target. CPI is a monthly measure, so prices increased 2% this month. The inflation target is 2% yearly! 2% monthly is more like 6% yearly its no where near targets. For a 2% yearly inflation we need monthly to be 0.3-0.4%
