After doing this 2 years full time I wanted to share with you a little more about what I learnt in terms of the economics about being a YouTuber as well as share in detail how we get paid. Remember everyone has different aspirations in life and what your ideal income would be will differ from others & theres nothing wrong with whatever that is whether it is high or low. This video is made so that you can understand more about my financial situation and also learn so that you can decide whether this is the right path for you and remember these are all my own experiences and will be a different experience for someone else.

There has been a lot of discussion as to whether YouTubers get paid when you skip ads. This is what I know from the google support forums.

"With TrueView in-stream ads, you pay when a viewer watches 30 seconds of your video (or the duration if it's shorter than 30 seconds) or engages with your video, whichever comes first. "

This basically translates that advertisers only get charged when the full 30 seconds is watched or if a use clicks on their ad. If you skip after 5 seconds then they get charged for 5 seconds which I assume is such a small amount that after we take our cut of 55% of 1, 000 views it does not amount to much. That being said I want to clear up we do get paid somewhat but just a small fraction and they don't mention how much it is charged at so I'm not sure :)!! Hope this helps clear up some of the speculations :) This area is ALWAYS changing so this information may be outdated very soon if Google changes their policies so it's always important to keep up to date if you're curious about these things :)

Haha, this video was so knowledgeable, I'll be honest, YouTube is my first job, straight out of Highschool..
I hope to make it full time, I tried to make it full time but I doubt it'll even put food on the table for me CURRENTLY, so I guess I'd have to get another job for now.. But until I make it a lot bigger, somewhere like where you are at right now, I'd make it full time (Even though I'm posting twice a week) I know 2016 is going to be my year! Your story and how you stopped your 6 figure job for YouTube and your drive for YouTube really did give me a boost in mine.
