Blessed Solstice from a Scottish Sister displaced during the Forced Migration to North Carolina 3 generations ago. These are strange times indeed and I find myself longing for my ancestors as much as i miss my own mother. I am a person who likes the short days and long nights of Autumn . I like snuggling up with my dog, reading a book or watching videos . I admit too enjoying the long warm days of summer too . I don't follow a faith, but try to move with the rhythms of Nature. On the shortest day I go into the garden and gather some greenery for house, then take our Jack Russell Dougie for a good walk. Soon it will be noticeably lighter, and the birds will be singing in the hedges every evening. A good Solstice to you, Patsy, and everyone!

The Winter Solstice has always been a bittersweet day for me. On one hand we are right between my two favorite seasons (Fall and Winter) but on the other hand from this day on the days will be getting longer and the nights shorter.

Personally I prefer the darker, waning half of the year when the days are getting shorter and the nights longer. I love the darker, cozy, short days especially when it’s cloudy, rainy or snowy. I connect with the sabbats in the waning half of year way more. My favorites in no particular order are Lammas, Mabon, Samhain, and Yule. 🌽🍎🎃🌲

I can’t wait for Summer Solstice so the days can shorten again. 😊
