you definitely want to listen to "Darkness in a Different Light" and "Theories of Flight"! Great albums.

Seen Fates several times. Most recently in 2017 in Annapolis. Ray came and sat at the table with me and my bride during an instrumental break. Way cool!

Drummer is Bobby Jarzombek. Played in Riot and Halford.

My go to FW album is Parallels. Never gets old to me.

Fates Warning should be headlining festivals by now, if only people had a good taste in music

This album is a stroke of genius. You could tattoo the lyrics on your body and it would be fine forever.

My first listen to, loved it. Thanks friend. I’ve actually bought their last two current albums ( that good) My fave is the extra heavy Darkness in a Different Shade of Light. They should be on Creed’s / Altervbridge type status.

Seen them 5 times. From 88 to 2018. They always are amazing. Yes In 99 the toured with Sanctuary and Forbidden. Those where awesome shows.I opened for them a few times with Flotsam and Nevermore. Ray is a cool dude. Jim is very to himself.

Seen every tour but ASPOG was the best for me. Seeing an entire room chill enjoying the songs was something I wasn't used to. Hasn't happened again. They do really kick ass... anyway shape or form. Jim is an artist

I love their Night On Brocken album. The songs are more metal than their later, more progressive stuff. Just like Savatage, they started out more of a power metal act with The Dungeons Are Calling, Sirens, before turning full blown progressive (which I didn't care for). John Arch on vocals fit the songs well.

Resident Fates Warning fan. You've hit on my two favorite albums (Awaken the Guardian and No Exit). After those two, it tends to get quite diverse:

Inside Out (1994): a new age/jazz experimental release, following up the catchy Parallels

Theories of Flight (2016): nearly perfect record with all musicians firing on all cylinders.

The Spectre Within (1985): John Arch rules, merely an overture to the monumental Awaken the Guardian, but began to establish them in the epic/prog metal genre.

I've seen Fates Warning live over 25 times. They never disappoint 🤘🤘

This band only has 2 weak albums(if you can say that)cause all their albums are great..Those 2 weak links on the chain are the 2 previous albums.."Darkness in a different light"and "Theories of flight"...They are really nice albums if you look at them individually, without knowing the rest of the discography, but if you compare them to the ones who are signature Fates Warning they lack a little identity...Now this one, looks it has that missing element and it will be better and more like their old stuff...And it better be, cause the Arch-Matheos projects were absolute gems...!!!!
