REPOST - What was Actually Said About Blessing Same-Sex Unions

Hear Pope Francis' Surprising statement on January 26. A prior post was made on this channel yesterday on a Youtube Short that only gave one part of a homily about blessing same-sex persons vs. relationships, causing much confusion since it wasn't given in its full context. This clip better clarifies.

Correct me if I'm wrong. What makes two people a couple? The union. So if the union can't be blessed, then they should not ask for blessing together. Then it has to be an INDIVIDUAL blessing.

So, when an unmarried man and woman, living together sinfully, e.g. adulterously (“disordered relationship”) approach the minister for a blessing as a couple, is that OK? The fact that they approach as a couple sends a message. I would think that they should approach for a blessing separately. Symbolism has meaning.

The whole thing is very confusing. Since they keep amending this doc, why not delete the word “couple” and just say individuals. Also, Africa is now exempt from this, since they took such a strong immediate stand against it.

What’s confusing to me is why a document even needed to be created. I thought everyone was allowed to be given a Blessing. We are all sinners. So a document that comes out saying sane sex couples can be blessed-well, that makes it seem the couple is to be blessed-not the individual person(s). Just seems unnecessary to me in the first place.

We need clear, definitive instruction from our spiritual leaders based on sound doctrine. What we have currently is confusion. We need the truth spoken in all matters no matter how difficult it is to hear. As sinful people, God wants us to seek him and by doing so we seek truth.

I can’t understand why some people objected to what you said. You spoke very clearly. The document is confusing when it uses the word “couple”. In our times the mention of the word “couple” immediately makes one think of some type of “committed” relationship. We don’t automatically think of just two random people coming for a blessing.
