I am attempting to gold leaf letters that have been sandblasted into the back of a thick cast glass piece. The piece will be viewed through the clean flat side of the glass. While the 23k gold is bright and beautiful on the side it is applied, it is dull on the side that it will be viewed. is there a way to prep the sandblasted engraving so that it is bright on the viewing side?

I sometime polish my cutting edges on good quality paper- glossy is best. Really nice stropped edges after.

I have a nice old gilded martini glass where the gilding on the exterior side has started to chip off. After watching your video I am considering regilding it myself, would appreciate any tips on the process. Ido a lot of silver smithing so I'm generally familiar with the crafts process, but assume that the prep work will be as important as any regilding process.

Can you explain more clearly the process of water solution with Gelatin.
Do you need to boil the water for more than 2 minutes or boil it?
Gold leaf process:
Coat the sandblasted surface with clear acrylic paint. Next, apply Gelatin solution and gold leaf.

Is just distilled water alone- you apply to the glass before you stick the gold leaf? I could not hear you well in your video- that is why I am asking. Thank you.
