Well, this is a video we never expected to make. Darlene sustained a very serious injury while we were boondocking in Wyoming. This video explains what happened and if it will put an end to our full-time travels and future boondocking.

So many of you have asked how to help.
1) Keep her in your prayers. This will be a long, hard recovery
2) Follow us on IG and FB (links below) to stay informed about what's happening
3) Watch our videos. Every little bit helps when it comes to Youtube commissions
5) Let us hear from you! We love reading your comments and messages.

Thanks you so much for your kind words and support. We definitely feel the love from our comminity and we are SOOOOOO THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU!

As an RN, I was yelling oh my gosh don’t move her, don’t move her! And you said you went inside the RV. Holy cow! Never ever move someone with a spinal injury. EVER! Thank God you didn’t paralyze yourself.

My great grandmother cleaned the fireplace and carried the bucket outside. She tripped, knocking some embers from the bucket. Wind kicked up carrying hot embers to the house. House burned down. Reason for this little story:
It's not your fault you got hurt. Accidents happen. Thank God you're alive.

NEVER move a head/neck/ spine injury - even if it seems minor.

- also -

NEVER remove a motorcyclist's helmet after a wreck - even if it seems minor.

Most dispatch offices don't have ability to view a "pin" directly. Make sure you can view the actual lat/long or MGRS coordinate numbers to give to the dispatcher or EMS responders.

As an older lady, I'm very frightened of falling. I think when you're young, you can catch yourself more easily when starting to go, but not so much at my age. Prayers for full recovery.

As a flight nurse who responds to this type of calls regularly, my first thought is NEVER move someone. You can easily make a treatable injury into something far worse. I’ve seen it so many times! If there was only one thing that I could teach everyone in the world who comes upon an injured person is; NEVER MOVE AN INJURED PERSON. People with injuries very often don’t realize that they are actually injured. It sounds strange, but your body protects you. You may not realize your injuries until hours or even days later.

You are truly blessed that your injuries weren’t worse. I’m so glad that you will be ok.

Btw: I’ve never seen your channel before. You just showed up this morning.

Praise God that you are going to be OK and prayers for your complete healing. Don't rush recovery, and I hope you have no lasting effects.

This is why those led head lamps are invaluable in off-grid situations where you need both your hands.

As a nurse, I am sorry this has happened. And I am sorry our health care system is so messed up in regards to obtaining insurance, and quality and affordable insurance that we should be entitled to as tax paying hard working Americans. ... I'll keep yall in my thoughts and prayers and hope you heal up soon and the financial hit doesn't hurt worse! 🙏

****when it comes to the hospital bills contact the billing department and ask for a financial assistance application. Fill it out and provide all info to see if you qualify thry will probably also make you fill out Medicaid paperwork first but the financial assistance is for people who make more than Medicaid will allow so fill it out because it could take a lot off if not all of the bill away. Every hospital has financial assistance but you have to ask for it they don’t usually tell you about it.

When I was 19, my odontiod bone was broken, and I walked away from the rear-ended car accident. You are a very lucky lady.. could have been worse. I had to have a cervical fusion and a halo on for 3 months. God bless you, and may you heal all better!.. I'm 55 now and still upright, walking.. ❤ Get better soon..

I learned this lesson at home. NEVER walk around in the dark. Feel 3 times, sustained 3 injuries. Could have broken your neck and become paralyzed!!! Glad you are ok! ALWAYS turn on the light! Install motion sensor lights today.

I had a similar injury from downhill skiing and what I learned is that a stable fracture of the vertebrae can quickly become unstable and paralysis inducing if the patient is moved incorrectly. Immediately after my accident I had similar tingling sensations. I was transported to the ER via ambulance and once there I had to remain laying down until I was cleared to sit up with a CT scan. While I am SO GRATEFUL that your injury remained stable and didn’t progress, it would probably have been better if you had let the paramedics stabilize your spinal cord and then transport you via ambulance to the ER because that painful ride over bumpy roads could have resulted in a much more devastating injury.
