All new for 2022, the BMW 2 Series Coupe is only the second generation of 2 Series but actually the latest in a long line of small, two-door, four-seat, small-engine, everyday sports cars from BMW. The BMW 1600, back in the original Neue Klasse, was one of the cars that really got BMW started in this segment. The 1600 was followed by the iconic BMW 2002, which created the template for the brand's success. Now, the second-gen BMW 2 Series is the newest iteration of such a car and potentially the last.

I really want to like this car, proportions look just right but the exterior design is busy. Only AWD at the top trim and no manual. Engine exhaust is about the only thing left from the peak powers of bmw.

Dammit, now the grille is the only good part of the car. The headlights, bumper, side panels and the whole rear are all wrong

I think the fact that the Grills are not the size of NYC speaks volume. I think it looks real good. Looking forward to seeing it in person when the Chip Shortage is rectified.

My friend, the car is great for me and also, the headlights remind me of the 2002 turbo, with the single headlights it had, one on the right and one on the left. If they wanted to remember that, for me personally, they did. Simply, INCREDIBLE !!! It is worthy of the nickname given to it: "the drift machnie" !!! <3 <3 <3

Absolutely horrible design. If it wasn't for the kidney grill, i would never guessed it is a BMW. The rear end looks italian, maybe Alfa Romeo or Fiat design. The side is at least more interesting than the M3/M4 G80, but it doesnt have any graphical design to distinguish this car from any other sports sedan/coupé of its size. The front looks souless, not BMW at all, if at least it had the twin circle headlights it would be so much better. And what are those traingular front vents? WHY a triangle? There are no other triangles in the design! If this is the new design language that BMW is adopting, then its time for Audi and Mercedes to rise and shine over the third with its horrible designs lately.

Bmw are on the way of getting the exterior right, but they need to work on the interior, look at the mercedes interiors, but mercedes need to work on the exterior lol.Learn a thing from one another.😎😂

It's much better than the F22. That designer should be replaced. But the headlights resemble Honda jazz, which makes me sad.

This is probably the best reinvention of the 02 they could do, choosing to be different from other current BMWs by using quotes from the past.
And after all, this for sure is the last celebration of the old world, so we should give it that.
Chances are high that there won't be another one, and if so, it's going to be 100 % electric.

I guess current 2 series owners (including f87 m2) can sleep better at night knowing that their cars look better from a design perspective.
The new design is not harmonious to my eyes. If the lines of the current 2 series were a composition by Bach (very tonal), then the lines of g42 remind me of the super busy atonal music of the 20th century ( Schoenberg et al). I guess maybe the car industry needs a Schonberg moment to shake things up a bit. Only time will tell....

The rear and especially the taillights are horrible.
Compared to the current M2 this car is a bad joke...

Previous gen looks better. The front end is ok, but the rear is aweful. Rear looks like it was designed by Hyundai in 2017.
