This is a gorgeous rendition of this incredible song. For any fans of this song, check out Miles Davis’ interpretation of it. It brings tears to my eyes every time, and that’s without the lyrics.

This is what happens when you put the greatest singer with the witty and sophisticated writing team of Rogers & Hart with brilliant musicians and arranger - voila!

THE WONDERFUL SOUND OF FRANK SINATRA. NO ONE INTERPRITS A SONG A SONG LIKE FRANK.

One of the great Rodgers& Hart songs, and one of Sinatra's greatest interpretations from his classic Wee Small Hours of the Morning Album in '55.

Love hearing the warm rich lower register of Sinatra's voice here. He always WOW's me! :-)

Once I laughed when I heard you say
That I'd be playing solitaire
Uneasy, in my easy chair
It never entered my mind

[Verse 2]
Once you told me I was mistaken
That I'd awaken with the sun
And order orange juice for one
It never entered my mind

[Bridge]
You had what I lack myself
Now I even have to scratch my back myself

[Verse 3]
Once you warned me that if you scorned me
I'd say a lonely prayer again
And wish that you were there again
To get into my hair again
It never entered my mind

I wanted to hear this by Joe Williams, and Basie. It's not here. I am in tears, Because it's part of my past life. And I need to hear it
again before it'e all over.

What a wonderful piece of music, sung by a great entertainer, a wonderful singer. This version is originally from Frank Sinatra's song cycle "In the Wee Small Hours, I think. I think it was originally a show tune. Thank you for posting it!

When RKO obtained the film rights to Rodgers and Hart's 1940 musical comedy "Higher and Higher, " it dropped all their songs but one, "Disgustingly Rich." Yet it was "It Never Entered My Mind" that was the hit song in the show. "Higher and Higher" (1943) was Sinatra's first film. He sang several songs but not this one. So, it wasn't until much later that he ended up finally recording it. When the film was released, critics were unable to review Sinatra's performance because whenever he appeared the bobbysoxers made such a racket he couldn't be heard.

He streamlines this great song. He gets to the meat…brilliantly. No verse.
