I agree.
In this fast paced era, 6-8 songs, 2-3 minute tracks is more effective now.

I've got 17 songs and i say I'd go for 6 track EP. We may never know which of the track would take off. Music is like a lottery game. Justt have fun with it

I have realesed 4 singles and today I finished my first ep, only four songs but it feels so rewarding to put a collection together, when I discover an artist or band I usually like to litsen to a 6 or 7 song ep

Personally, I love myself a good 30-40 minute album. It's not about attention span, it's more about how many songs can you have on a record before some of them feel like filler and bloat out the record. One of my favourite albums that is quite short is Akuma no Uta by Boris. It's 39 minutes long and has six songs, but it's great. It has a pace and it draws you in with a vibe that keeps delivering the whole way through. The same can be said for Ride's first few EPs. They give you a nice taste of what the band has to offer without dragging on for too long. Quality over quantity - trim the fluff, so to speak!

This helped a lot man! I’m releasing an album soon, but first I’m releasing an Ep with 4 songs on it that will be the singles for the full album and those songs will be also be released on different dates. I found this way to be the best because many people told me to just realeased singles and as you said (swim to surface to be trampled on) and also the fact that, if I wanted to release a single every month or twice a month, I would have to write and record pretty quickly. I can’t make the songs great if I don’t give myself time. In my opinion every song on your album or so should be single worthy and that’s how people will keep listening. Anyways this has been my Ted talk. Great video! (Edit) forgot to mention that many sources say that Spotify will show your songs more often if they’re on an ep/album.

Hey. Nice video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this matter.
I have a question though. If you release let's say, three or four singles in a year, can you make an EP or an album the next year and include those singles? That would mean that the 5 songs EP would have only 2 new songs and the 10 songs album would have only six or new songs.

Interesting. The music landscape over time is definitely a roller coaster. I’m only 38 but I still prefer an album format. I liked when bands would crank out an album every year or two, and the experience of anticipating, buying, then opening the album (cds in my case), then listening to the music while leafing through the sleeve.

I like how most songs on an album sound and feel like they belong together, like they were born in the same litter. Obviously that’s mostly because 20 or 30 years ago, 1 producer was there to oversee the whole album among other things.

I like how albums are a natural time stamp for a band, and you get a sense of where you were when you first heard it. And the discussions you have with other fans about the strength of each album etc. Singles and EPs don’t really carry that same weight, and makes them harder to analyze and connect with (for me anyway)

All of that being said, I usually buy music now from I tunes on my phone, it’s just too handy. Even though I’m a nostalgia junkie and miss the old days of “connecting “ with an album, if that makes sense lol

Great Video! I’m curious about you and your brothers opinions on this, and if you could have it your way and make money regardless, what format would you chose to distribute your music?

I think ep are better. Like 4-6 songs after you released your first single ofc and you can add a bonus track to that too to make it more interesting f

Wikipedia said a album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a collection on cd 💿 vinyl and cassette tape and dictionary.com said album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a single idem on cd 💿 vinyl and cassette tape and both of them are correct but I have a question 🙋‍♂️ for you on a album 💿 why is their so many song 🎵 🎧 🎶 on one album or one collection and why do you always have to listen 👂 to each of the song 🎵 🎧 🎶 🎧 🎶 🎧 🎵 🎶 from very beginning to the end like what’s the frequency Kenneth starts at 0:00 and then it ends at 3:59 and is that called song structure time code or duration or both?

I think it really just depends on the band/artist. Personally I'd go with single release just because its easier to keep up with the time. Now if the music is timeless you can release it whenever and it should still be relevant. Also with a single release you don't have to stick to concept/arrangement like you would have to with a larger selection of music.

Do you think I should release a single from my upcoming ep, or put out an ep and then a very similar ep?
