Loved this video, i can kinda take both sides of the situation you said, ive spent more than 8k on genshin but ive also spent hours and hours on another free 2 play account i have. I also play all the other mihoyo games and am connected to the mihoyo community from like 9 years now starting from ggz. People like to talk shit without even listening to the other party, but sometimes the people who try to defend the game are in the right and get blasted by the haters, its a double sided war. Ive always talked about how bad the artifact system is in genshin and can be improved but its still better than some other game systems i saw. But i do try to defend the game as much as i can when the criticism is invalid, one of these examples is from honkai impact with the bunny girl themed event which didn't come to Chinese servers and the people riot. They even tried to assassinate the CEO of mihoyo, which was totally messed up just for not getting a bunny girl event in their region. The Chinese community also don't allow the Honkai impact devs to add any male character to the game and when they tried to add one they got severe backlash. In genshin's case, i noticed that the toxic part of the community is much more in the spotlight compared to some other games, and the community is hated by other game community just because of those 20% people. I don't mind paying and spending tons of time in the games because i love the story and the characters and the music in it. Honkai impact's story is still my favourite even after playing multiple award winning games. Sure its combat isnt as complicated as something like elden ring or sekiro, but it has its own charm.

This comment is just me putting my thoughts on display without any proper order, so it might sound like im changing the topic midway through a lot of times

Most of Genshin's content (and probably SR, though I haven't really played it) is in worldbuilding, exploration and lore. Tectone and Mtashed have said they don't give a shit about that aspect of the game, including mocking other players for enjoying the story and lore, and that's their own choice - people experience the game differently. But to criticize the game by saying that "there's nothing to do" because they only interact with like 20% of the actual content and refuse to try anything else... well, I think that's kind of a them problem.

They complain because this is their livelihood, where they get their money from. And they love to clickbait and milk drama. How many "I'm Quitting" Mtashed videos are there, or drama-stoking Tectone video titles do you see? It gets tiring when the only content they release is provocative titles used to attract haters because they want to farm their under-18 audience - and a harsh reality check when they do anything outside of Genshin/Honkai. Turns out viewers gained by riding hate trains aren't viewers that stick around for you XD

Furthermore, there are plenty of sponsored Genshin content creators who are very critical of the game. Enviosity, Bwaap, etc. The idea that there "isn't enough criticism" is hilariously laughable when you go on their official subreddit and half the posts are complaining about the game.

So no, people don't dislike these two because they are critical of the game because there are plenty of bigger content creators that are equally as critical. The point is that they are immature people. When Tectone still interacted with the community, he managed to create drama seemingly every other month. He burned the bridge with Atsu, shittalked countless other content creators, and half the time was more concerned with his drama with some other CC than the game - just bringing unnecessary and quite frankly unbecoming behavior into the community. And that's not even getting into his behavior when he still played Arknights. Mtashed managed to get himself banned from the Official Genshin Discord because people tried to give him criticism on his videos and he started personally attacking them. And as stated before, it gets old pretty quickly when the fourth "I'm quitting" video comes out on his channel, only for him to return a week later. Makes the whole thing seem incredibly disingenuous, and that he's just jerking around his audience for views and money.

You get backlash on ANYTHING you say on the internet. You open your opinion to the world, of course there's gonna be people that will hate it.

Great vid! Loved your points but I also wanted to add one thing about the hate on mtashed and tectone; from what I've seen, a lot of people that dislike them also largely come from the logic of "if you dislike the game and the community so much, why keep going back to it and make content about why you hate it?" Now obviously it's good to make constructive criticism and lot of Tectone's points are reasonable (at least to me), but at the same time Hoyo clearly isn't going to make certain changes (anniversary, dehya, endgame, questionable plot) no matter how vocal people are. In fact, I think the last time they really made a change due to an outright outburst from the community was the zhongli changes + very minor QOL changes. And obviously Hoyo doesn't care, since their main target are chinese + casual players (who, for the most part, don't care too much about these things) and are still bringing in record revenue.

Given this, while I still think it's good to have criticism, going back to repeatedly criticize something that is never going to get fixed eventually does become being negative for the sake of being negative (even if you are in the right). It's better to just move on, like he did with arknights. Now I completely recognize that Tectone genuinely wants genshin to improve, but from what I can tell from asking around, his constant vids on it and the general negativity it generates is the major reason why there's so much resentment between genshin players and tectone. Personally, I think I'm somewhere in-between where I enjoy tectone's content and also agree with the criticism, but also enjoy genshin (i like the art, music, lore, etc, and i understand its not everyone's cup of tea). I have to admit, it does get somewhat tiring when i see another vid on "oh genshin sucks cuz ___" every 2 weeks. I highly prefer and enjoy it much more when he's having fun.

But that's just my opinion. If you disagree or think I missed something lmk! I'm happy to discuss and maybe clarify if my points don't get across clearly.

Edit: You also earned yourself a sub :)

That's why I never trust those 2 channels, not only with HSR but with Tower of Fantasy as well if I remember months ago.

MTashed and Tectone just said there was no content and the game barely gives any rewards. And yet, some people felt personally attacked for some reason. I guess that's why no one even dares to imply that HSR has any flaws.

About the "don't bite the hand that feeds you" part: you are absolutely correct, but keep in mind, this does NOT apply only to content creators, specifically not just to streamers.

Believe me when i tell you that the whole industry, be it game reviews, be it whatever, is subject to this. The whole system has been built (and has been expanded upon) for years so that all the satellite activities are pretty much puppets in the hands of PRs and whatnot. It's a huge echo chamber.

In and on itself it would not even be that big of a deal, were it not that going against the trends or building your online persona as someone who criticizes everything, not caring about relationships with developers and such, does not make you a hero or anything. But that's just a reality of internet entertainment.

Thank god I'm just playing Genshin and HSR for fun and not as livelihood. I can still enjoy it even if I have some complaints too. I noticed Mtashed content was almost all about character builds and non of the lore stuff about the game. Looks like he's not really interested on that part of content so that takes a lot of possibilities for him to make more content about said games. But to each his own, I'll just stay away from their content unless there's an interesting one to see. :)

For me, genshin impact was a fun game from start to Inazuma, maybe sumeru. I only spent a total of $300-$400 max and never put anymore on it as I was never one to go for every single damn character even if their new, broken as fk, or work well with certain teams. I never pulled for their weps either as I appear it as a waste since my luck is hot garbage.

I use to log in and play for like 3hrs to 5hrs top everyday but after I finished the Inazuma main story and all the events, majority side quests, world quests, Spiral abyss, ores gathering, teapot building, etc etc I grew so fking bored doing the same old bullshet that I literally have to force myself to do something. I even forced myself to 'fix' my character to make them stronger and better and only still did the bare minimum.

Now its like I only log in for the events for primos, commissions, ores, teapot currency, and then I bounce off which takes no more than an hour to do. I lost complete interest til a new main storyline pops up since thats ALL Im interested in. I never log in and stay in the game for more than 2hrs tops if Im not doing that same old boring chore routine.

As for Honkai Star Rail, I love the game at the start but now since Im only logging in to do the damn domain fights for character upgrade in lvl and skills, I aint doing shet. Sometimes I look over my characters to make sure they build right or better than before then logging out. Again all Im interested in is the Story. Games with good stories gets my interest but seeing how Honkai feels so much like genshin with both MC getting powers of the gods, kinda a bit letdown to me but seeing how your choices in conversations matter peak my interest. Again, not spending money on the fking game and pulling for characters I wants. (didnt pull for Seele at all, got Jing Yuan? Thats his name?)

So are these games worth money spending to me? Not so much. Am I gonna keep playing the games? Not as much, since I like touching grass, walking in the sun, and reading BL novels and manga. Would I recommend these games to anybody? Yes and No. Yes to try out, and No to spend money on as I see it as a fking waste of money.

Gacha games fandoms (even to the games I'm really invested with Mihoyo games from HI3 for 3 years prior to Genshin even released worldwide), they tend to have really questionable attachment to these f2p live service games, even defying contexts at times and defending the in-game characters like real people to the point of neglecting real people's feelings

Ironically enough once you found camp to those that even more critical with these games akin to news outlet of Yongyea, they tend to stay silent regarding discussions of f2p gacha games or even talking just about it's fandoms, it could make me understand on how so many people are so fatalistic to these kinds of cult-like mentality in pop culture

And was (and still poor) 3rd worlder struggling to not ending my own life, it's just these people need to give a chance by society to participates in better and productive activities honestly, the factors of different facets of societies are what allows these situations to happen to begin with, it's just that it's tragic that people that tries to use reason tend to be stomped on collectively by those whose most of the time are using emotion, even on strictly to pop culture indulgences, regardless I'm just keep supporting Mihoyo to go walk on and see what kind of future they're going to forge with together, it's just portions of it's fanbase is really hopelessly needs help to get outside the sunk-cost fallacy of these spheres too, despite there's no better and more convenient alternatives for years in video games for any greater engagements to anything, aside those produced by Mihoyo since 2018

Great vid, wish you posted vids like this more often, but giving the main channel priority makes sense.

The problem now is that you pay 70$ for a game and the game it's full of pay DLC's and P2W sh1t.

When mtashed criticise any game, he actually also explains the reasons for doing it and how they can be fixed. As for tectone, i have no problems of him being blacklisted because he LITERALLY finds any reason to complain on hoyoverse games. His chat is also really really negative. I will not recommend anyone to watch his video because they will give you depression. I have seen the chats of both the streamers. Mtashed 's chat is kinda chill one helping him what he missed and stuff. But tectone' s one, whenever he says anything, the chats be like "yes, i agree, true" like slaves

I could somewhat feel that last point you made, though more so with a different game: Tower of Fantasy. While I'm not gonna say that I'll go absolutely ballistic on anyone who criticizes or hates on the game (heck I can even agree with some criticisms from time to time), it is a game, may I add, a *free* game that I really enjoy. While the game isn't as popular as it was almost a year ago, and even though the developers can make some questionable at best decisions, I want to see ToF do well, cuz it's a gacha that actually managed to capture my interest compared to say, Genshin Impact. I love my experience with the game and seriously want to see it get better as it continues to be its own thing. Hoping the PS4/PS5 release will be better than that of the initial one. (cuz ngl that was pretty bad, despite my love for ToF lmao)

Great video!
