Wow, Trump Can No Longer Own Guns!

Is it just me, or is it weird that Donald Trump, a former president who is currently running for President, has to give up his guns while the Son of the current president is currently on trial for illegal gun possession.

Why are people saying Trump doesn't need guns! If I had bodyguards, I'd still carry a gun.

Ronald Reagan was surrounded by the Secret Service when he was shot, and what about Abraham Lincoln?

I don't believe someone who has a non-violent felony should be stripped of their Second Amendment rights.

It doesn't make any logical sense. Denying a non-violent felon a firearm doesn't make the country any safer or more dangerous.

I understand the argument for denying someone who has a violent felony from owning a firearm, but even then, once a person has paid their dues and shown they're committed to turning their lives around, keeping them from owning a gun for self-defense just feels wrong.

The right to bear arms is a core part of our freedom and security as Americans.

I believe there should be some way for a violent felon to get his rights back after he has demonstrated that they are no longer a threat to society.

Granted, with Violent Felonies, there should be a much tougher vetting process, but every American has the right to self-defense in America unless you've demonstrated that you're too much of a danger to society.

In that case, why are they still in society?

I don't know exactly what that process should look like, but that pathway should be available.

Even California agreed that those convicted of non-violent felonies can own and possess firearms

If your rights are taken away for life, then your debt to society can never be repayed.

I was convicted of violent felonies in 2005 did 10 yrs. I've changed my life around 100%, own a business, home, and 2 vehicles and doing my best to raise my kid. There's not a law that ANY man can pass that will prevent me from defending myself and my family with the best means possible.

I was listening to the G. Gordon Liddy radio show many moons ago. Someone asked him how many guns he had, G-Man said "I'm a convicted felon, so the answer is zero. Mrs. Liddy, however, has 137."

Felon or not, no one should be barred from owning a firearm. You said it clearly, if they are a threat to society then they should not be out of prison.

The supreme Court has already ruled that felons do in fact have a right to second amendment

It's bull shit anyway to take away a person's firearms over a non-violent crime.

Non-violent crimes shouldn't constitute a loss of ones 2A rights period.

You don’t transfer a handgun to Florida you just bring it there as there’s no registry.

The right to keep and bear is not predicated on "need" or a "rational reason to possess."
Oh, MAYBE, this event will CHANGE Trump's previous "take their guns first, due process later" attitude when asked about Red Flag laws. Eh?

In the 1800s whenever a person was released from jail, they gave the convicted their firearm back as well as their horse. Therfore it is unconstitutional to remove the right to carry a gun even if you have been convicted of a crime especially a non violent crime.

As a convicted felon I couldn’t agree more. If someone can’t be trusted with a firearm they shouldn’t be free.

I agree with you. Non violent felony charge should not bar someone from their 2A RIGHTS!!

as a former combat MARINE and former state trooper I'm gonna make this very simple. if ANYONE can show me in the CONSTITUTION the part where it SAYS the SCOTUS or STATE gets to pick and choose which US citizens have rights and which ones dont i will gladly sign over my house on 70 acres and my bank account to them with no exceptions. when the founding father's wrote the constitution they made sure 3 thing were certain because they knew some would try NUMBER 1 no rights can ever be taking away from a citizen NUMBER 2 no amendment can ever be removed and most of all NUMBER 3 no government state- local or federal can ever make a LAW to go against the constitution. this will now stop the SCOTUS from enforcing an unconstitutional LAW
