Nice looking tanks. I'm always hesitant to have Lake Tanganyikans shipped because they seem to be more delicate and more susceptible to changes in temperature. We're lucky enough in the Chicagoland area to have lots of clubs so we can get them there. I do the same - buy as juveniles cheap and watch them grow!

We are on the same page on this issue. I love watching them grow out and the joy of seeing a males colors come in. The cost difference is enormous. We should do a collab on the "The Joys of Growing them Out" ... thanks for posting.

great video, I like to buy young fish and watch them develop too. does a "juiced" female keep the color or does it fade when the hormones have passed. I have a female peacock (I think she is a red shoulder) that has a very predominate red patch on her side and turn a very dark brown almost black color that has blueish under tones. I thought she was a male until she started holding regularly. I've had her for about 2 years.

cheap way pet smart or petco assorted tank xD you can get decent species for 7$ . rarer fish I have to order but able to get all zebra cichlid. johani, demasonai etc for 7$

Looking to set up either Mbuna or peacocks in a 75 gal. If I were to purchase the fish small to grow them out do you place them in the display tank or smaller tanks? If in smaller tanks what size tanks and how many fish per tank?

LOL yea you drive to the store and buy them, or you get them mail order. I'm sure everyone gets there fish the same way. Your title led me to believe you were going to tell were you bought them as in where, a place name.
