No issues with GPS, although since any gimbal will act like a huge sail catching the wind...the Phantom has a difficult time maintaining a precise GPS hold on a location. I am using the newest firmware and I did do a compass re-calibration.

I've considered taping three sides of the landing gear, creating a pocket for the gimbal, free from wind. what do you think?

this is the exact gimbal I purchased - goo[dot]gl/xVagr
I would of been extremely happy with the gimbal had I not needed to modify my DJI Phantom to make it fit. But the footage looks alot better vs not having a gimbal attached.
