In Which I Make A Bag End Edwardian Walking Skirt || Adventures in Hobbitcore Historybounding

In today’s video I’m taking inspiration from both fantasy and history, and making an Edwardian-ish walking skirt inspired by Bag End from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. This was a fun historybounding adventure taking a modern pattern and turning into something moderately historical.

5 seconds in, gleefully sees a tardis, presses subscribe.
And it's about making a walking skirt - one of my favourite garments.
Love your pattern hack! That's brilliant.
Your skirt is gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing.

I ADORE my antique hand crank machine. I really only ever want to sew on it now. Though maybe I'll change my mind when I get a band for my treadle machne, it's possible that with that kind of foot control I will be happy to have two hands on my project. And I completely agree with the clickety click of my vibrating shuttle machine being so much preferable to the whine of an electric motor. I can actually listen to podcasts and yootoobs while using the hand crank machine. I had mine for a while before I figured out the correct project for its first, it was a sports bra half-corset thing (based on the Athletic Corset design that I believe was originally put out there by Foundations Revealed but has been copied and pasted all over) that's currently in the UFO pile cause it pinches my bottom ribs and I just haven't been in the mood to unpick all the binding.

I still have to hem my Walking Skirt (drafted from Keystone and made of wool I got that wasn't quite the shade I wanted so I overdyed it with onion skins). It would have been the perfect fall skirt except we kinda went straight from summer to winter this year :P yay Ontario. I'm still a bit of a newb when it comes to plackets so I hid the closures behind the rear end pleats and it actually worked really well, possibly cause I used all the fabric I could get out of the piece I dyed to extend the pleated area.... and I made mine with a curved waistband because straight ones slide off my (lack of) hips. And your first walking skirt video is on my playlist :)

What a nice stiching job you did on the waistband ribbon! Heh, glow in the dark ribbon for Gandalf's sigils, beautiful. I never know how to embellish things, I keep hoping for inspiration but nope, so far, lining patch pockets and sleeve cuffs with pretty trim is about as far as I've gotten on that.

Love the skirt it’s such a beautiful color. The whole outfit from jacket to beautiful Bernadette shoes is lovely. Great job with the disappearing act at the end. ❤️❤️

Very satisfying result! Beautiful color combo, gorgeous button, fun addition of "Gandalf runes." I love it!
And the jacket adds the perfect hobbity touch.

I love it, as always. Also, the colour is so pretty. We call it coniferous green, "havun vihreä" here. It's my favourite. But prey tell, what is that awesome Tardis in the background??

very good song the images are like stepping back in time. the dresses remind me of stairs in my home town that were sized for the gait of women wearing hobble skirts.

Ok, so this is the 2nd time (maybe 3rd time...hm, not sure) I've watched this, and I'm wondering. What is that circle thing on your scissors? I don't know how I missed it before. Love the videos. I really like your narration.
