Creality K2 Combo Review - I'm Replacing my Bambu X1

UPDATE: I've gone back to my X1 for now, i;m just sick of errors in Crealitry Slicer and it's annoying me that this is so opposite to the workflow I use on other printers (Orca/Bambu Studio or other similar derivites) Once Orca is fully workking with the CFS, I'll be using this full time unless something else comes out of equal size and a better workflow. Still a great printer for anyone who wants One Printer, but the Slicer differences and bugs annoy me too much to have this as my primary machine right now.

I’ve had my K2 for about 2 months and have 300+ hours of print time on it. I love it, it just works.

This is the first video I’ve seen that leans positive on the K2 since the initial flood of glowing reviews from influencers who got early-release models. It’s actually reassuring to know that not all units are plagued with issues.

I’ve watched numerous videos from users reporting problems like the PTFE tube detaching from the extruder, bed tilting, and photoelectric sensor errors. One user even documented his printer failing within just 14 days—despite being open-minded and working with Creality to find a solution, he’s on the verge of giving up.

On the flip side, those with properly functioning K2 units seem to love the print quality, which is a definite plus. However, what keeps me in a wait-and-see stance is the sheer number of issues being reported so soon after launch. A brand-new model shouldn’t have this many widespread problems at this price point.

To be fair, Creality hasn’t exactly built its reputation on high standards. That said, I still stand by my Ender 3 V2—it remains the best printer I’ve bought right out of the box for the price.

Thanks for the video. I've had my K2 Plus for 2 weeks now. Printed out 42 items and had one problem (clogged nozzle). Replaced and its been doing fine so far. I use Creality Print and I think as Creality Cloud gets bigger, more models and users, it will be a funnel that keeps people in their ecosystem. Its my first fdm printer but so far I'm happy.

I can honestly say I think Creality has come a long way from the K1 problems (letting customers be their main beta testers). I mean customers are still doing that but to a lesser degree. I think with Bambu locking down their systems, which people don't like, Creality has a chance to step up and get a big share of the market by disgruntled bambu users. IF Creality steps up their game when it comes to customer support and replacement parts (warranty parts).

I hope Creality keeps improving the K2 Plus and using that as a base, to bring to market a K2 Plus Plus that has multiple print heads like the Prusa XL but uses the bones of the K2 Plus. I think that would keep them on the right track.

As for problems, I count my lucky stars because there are many who have had problems right out the box, including Uncle Jessy (he had to wait 2 months for parts... and he is Uncle Jessy). With that said, I think most of the problems stem from bad handling during shipping. I'm an American expat who retired in Korea and I have yet to find a K2 Plus bad review. Why? Because Korean delivery people take pride in their work and don't abuse packages as US delivery workers do. I worked in a UPS shipping warehouse and I personally saw how most packages get thrown around, kicked, dropped and knocked off the docks, etc. and that damages products. I posted pics of the box of my K2 Plus and people in the US said it was the nicest box they had ever seen. So I think there is something to a lot of machines being broke and or having problems = rough handling. There there are obvious build problems in the unit itself - the cable on Uncle Jessy's unit had a horrible strain on the connector and as soon as that cable was replaced (after swapping out a number of other things, the problem was fixed).

Anyway I hope Creality takes the hint and keep the K2 Plus as a base for a future multi head system, which would ensure the K2 Plus would be around for a long time.

I have been through a dozen different Creality printers. I want to get the K2 Plus but considering how much tinkering and modding I have had to do with every single Creality printer I have owned, I am still on the fence.

We have the K2, it replaced our much older CR-10 and we absolutely love the K2. Its reliable, seeing daily use and its basically dummy proof user wise.

I also bought a couple Bambu Labs for my smaller use and they are are on par but the K2 still has better temperatures, bigger build capacity, and the heated enclosure really helps with engineering filaments.

The RFID tag is from the Dremel printers from about 5 years ago. We had them in our school STEM labs ( I am the IT guy, not a student ).

Hi Ross - one of my K2's Feet indeed broke. But it was not on shipping. It was me, moving the printer on the floor, that has some irregularities :( I didn't have a screw removal tool... I glued my feet back with polyurethane glue. Besides that, very, very good machine with many innovative aspects of its own.

always great when you see your own thoughts validated... so that bias aside, great video. I look forward to looking back in 12 months. The K2 might be completely on top of the market. Or maybe 300mm x 300mm is the sweet spot and they over shot? Maybe the k2 will show issues with wear and use over time.... or maybe... the K2 nailed it and it's the perfect "pro-sumer" 3d printer of 2025.

I'm very interested in this machine but the large number of horror stories I have read/watched about it, has caused me to take a wait and see approach. I have the SV08 with an aftermarket hotend (Microswiss) and it has been amazing thus far. Swapping out the filament becomes tedious though and is the main reason why I want the K2 Plus Combo. We shall see.

Just like you say, we won't know how good this is until it's got a few hundred print hours, but this is looking good for now.
I am looking to replace my Bambu P1S because of their "update".

For someone who is a starter and needs something more out of the box ready to go and one that works well with less maintenance. I have come down to K2 PLUS or the Bambu X1C. What would you choose and why? I like bambu easy spool loading for settings instead of having to manual do it and i like the first layer check thing

The filament changer is an AFC - automated filament changer.

Can you go over the VFA if any on this unit?

I was invited to the 11th anniversary in Detroit. The prints off of the pro were insane. However, I still really want a K2 Plus just for size.

Alright, to sum it up: The hardware and its firmware are excellent. The slicer is a mess. Is that correct? If so, then I might just end up getting this! (since I exclusively use OrcaSlicer anyway)
