It’s a 283. Tire shredder may be an exaggeration

Just remember they're only original once, better to smooth and polish the factory parts than to replace.

I owned the same car years ago, I reside in Aussieland and it was known to be the only one in the country. it came with a 283 but replaced it with a 454, used to smoke the tire really well. Sadly I had to part with it due to the GFC of 08/09. It was fast with all that horsepower, but my 92 MR2 turbo used to leave it behind, but it was about 1/2 weight and had close to 450HP at the wheels, sadly the MR2 went as well, my chopper and the ex wife, but that was a blessing LOL

Had a 64 back in 1970, built a 427 and put it in. Drove it to work in Flint Mi. Took it to the dragway, and called it Black Magic. Great car.

So we're putting a new grill in an old car. Wow what a New Concept. Hundreds of thousands of Car Guys across the country would have never thought about putting new parts to make their car look better

My first care whit with 64 malibu Super sport, red w/interior 283 power pack with Muncie 4 speed and power steering. had to sell it when I enlisted in the Air force in 1965. Still miss it.

One of the best looking chevys ever. I have a 65…with a 434ci small block with AFR heads, hydraulic cam 610 lift, super vic single plane intake….580hp and 580ft.ibs, 700r4, Moser 9 inch…. With a 200 shot it ran 10.23 135mph…

Can't believe you didn't at least let us hear it. Good video none the less.

Never a good sign when the engine was clearly painted while in the car.

Definitely with an upgraded Grill at a run faster I totally agree and let's drop in a boring 350 Chevy in it as well😊

I had a 64 SS coupe. 283 with a quadrajet. Bucket seats with the 4 speed shifter in the console. Dark blue with a light blue interior. Sold it in '66 when I went in the service. Would love to have it back now, especially after watching this video.

Your next project needs to be mid-late 70's "Smog Era" car from 73-77 and do exactly what you did with these car. The mid-late 70's cars have become the popular build now a days because they are still cheap to buy to do a daily driver/weekend fun car to take on cruise-ins and to cars and coffees, Go find you all a Grand Prix, Malibu, 4th gen Nova, Thunderbird/Cougar, Monaco/Magnum or even a Aspen/Volaire and get it running and pretty it up without spending 25k on it, just like regular guys are doing, to drive to work in during the week and have fun with on the weekend with 8-10k put in it, It aint gotta be perfect, just good enough to drive and look good have fun with.

I truly love this car. It’s been one of my favorite The day it rolled off the assembly line. And this one is an excellent example.

The Heat Riser causes the part of exhaust gas from the right side of engine thru the intake manifold easing cold driveability and supply heat for the automatic choke. Lubing valve was always part of my tune up procedure.

my father swapped the 283 for a hopped-up 327 and installed a TH400 with a 12bolt rear in our families 64 el camino
