Haley, I think there's actually quite a bit to learn in the Britney memoir. It sparks some really interesting discussions on how we treated famous women compared to men and how sexualised female performers are at a young age. Britney's conservatorship is also like a throwback to the times when women were consistently institutionalised for being 'crazy' by their husbands and family, has anything really changed? The justice system and how exactly an *alcoholic* man was repeatedly put in charge of his daughter when he had vested financial interests? I think the memoir definitely has greater discussion points going on :)

I agree with your take on celebrity memoirs cause it’s like a giant podcast (esp. when the author is the one narrating) that’s not them “media trained” and is unfiltered along with everything you didn’t know that you want to now about them. Paris Hilton’s memoir is like this too if you’re interested gives same energy and shock value

the new yorker puzzle of the girl browsing the books is SO HARD!!! like genuinely, my mum & i struggled so much lol. we've done a lot of puzzles but that was by far one of the most difficult ones we've ever done.

That is interesting on what books were mostly bought. I have debated about reading self help books and I don't know if I could but I do plan to read more classics next year. My daughter actually helped me reach my classic goal of 2 classic novels this year since she has been wanting to read The Wizard of Oz series. Happy reading!
