Thank you for sharing this. I first met Joe Tex in my father's office in the late 60s.
Mr Tex was buying a house in Baton Rouge La. and my father at the bank gave him
the loan. A time of great Black music.

In the 1992 mini series "The Jacksons: An American Dream" there's a scene when Joe Jackson was yelling at the young Jackson brothers about grabbing the microphone like Joe Tex!

One of my fathers favorite artist. I really loved the song "Hold On To What You've Got." Being a 70's child "I Got Cha" and "Ain't Gonna Bump No More With No Big Fat Woman" were two other songs I liked by him. Remember him performing it on Soul Train. No, I never knew about the J. Tex & J. Brown rivalry. Thanks for this history on the talented singer and performer Joe Tex. 💞🎶🎼🎵
Ps, I loved the animated clip too.

All I remember as a little boy in Meridian Ms, Joe Tex got the most airplay of any R&B singer. WQIC radio loved them some Joe Tex. I actually thought he was from Meridian as much as they used to play him in the early '70's. Joe was the man. Much respect to him and you for giving us this documentary of him.

I love "Ain't gonna bump no more, " everyone did.
When I first saw videos of him performing back in the days, I was stunned at his dance moves; that's when I realized where James Brown got it from😮

I talked to Dr. John one time and Dr. John said that "He wanted to be his keyboard player"

"Under your powerful love" still finds its way into my vinyl set when dj'ing to young students today. Works! Getting young folks to enthusiastically dance to tracks they've certainly never heard before... 👍✊🏿

I’ve heard of Joe Tex but knew nothing about him. Very good video as always. I had no idea he had a problem with James Brown
