There’s no such thing as Israeli food because it’s not a real nation, it’s a modern invention only 75 years old. There are loads of unique cuisines from the different Mizrahi and Ashkenazi Jewish communities, which should be celebrated, but “Israeli” is not a thing.

Did they tell you it was 🇮🇱 or did you just assume it was because they might be ✡️? I looked at their menu and pretty much all of options have their Arabic names. Some even mention which country they are from.

because of how Israel has been dispersed for centuries up to 1947, their take on food is highly varied based on the places which Jews have moved and settled down in. For example it’s not uncommon for dishes like Borscht and Jellied fish to be found in Israel as half of the population have links to the former USSR.

Alot of Israeli food was influenced by Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and Mizrahi cuisine. The hummus is obviously from Mizrahi culture
