Why Los Angeles Dodgers signing Blake Snell helps Texas Rangers' chances to sign Roki Sasaki

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed former Cy Young winner Blake Snell to a 5-year contract in free agency. The Dodgers were favored to sign Japanese star pitcher Roki Sasaki, but with an overloaded rotation, the Texas Rangers should have an easier time convincing Sasaki they are a better fit to start his MLB career.

Nathan Eovaldi will also be a top target for Texas in free agency, but the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves have emerged as suitors for the two-time World Series champion this winter.

The point at the end about the Rangers risking losing momentum as a franchise is the best analysis I've heard in a while.

Buehler looked like he cracked that shell in the World Series 😂

One thing I have to point out now is Kenta Maeda was demoted to more of a swingman role while he was okay in his contract year in 2019(probably was limiting his innings to not trigger incentives but I was not their fan so can't remember), but he was very good in 2020 as an AL Cy Yound finalist. So yeah, this is kind of my rebuttal on "the Dodgers develop and treat oversea players well(along with Yu Darvish getting toughest time his life after that stinkin 2017 WS G7)" conversation.

if he doesn't go to Dodgers, he's gonna go to SD because of Darvish. if not there, he's going to NY. lol. He ain't goin to the Rangers.

If anything that should be one of the bigger bullet points for CY when pitching Sasaki. Look at all the injuries to the Dodger pitchers; they’re doing something wrong, but their money is masking their pitching development mistakes. Furthermore, when their pitchers do get injured they don’t come back the same; Walker Buehler is a shell of his former self, while the Rangers got deGrom back from a second TJ hitting 99 w/ accuracy.

Wrong! The dodgers always have room for a Roki caliber player.

Dodgers will get Sasaki too. He is practically free. Buehler and Flaherty will probably be gone.
