This happened 4 years ago to my mother. The caller had my voice and told her that I had been in a drunk driving car crash in another state and to send me bail money or ill would be hurt in jail. She swore it was my voice. She mailed 6000 in cash via FedEx to an out of state address. Everything she had in savings at the time. I was furious that people would target elderly people. I tell this story to people so they can be more aware and stay in contact with loved ones.

That happened with me and my grandfather. Thankfully, he didn't give them any money.

Makes you start to be hesitant when you want to be the first to say hello on a call from a number you don't recognize

especially if they don't say anything first
Or dont say anything for 10 seconds
Or dont say anything at all and get your voice recording and hang up

I saw that years ago. One of the guys on the board of directors for the group I was involved in in the bay area of California called Naifa reached out to me with an email saying he was arrested in Mexico and I needed to get him bail money so I called around and talked to some of the other guys with money and one of the guys told me that it was a scam and I thought I was knowledgeable, but it almost got me to the point that I reached out to other members to get some money together and I am so glad that one of the guys was more informed than I was

If you live close to your family & stuff just make a deal that none of you will ever ask about loaning/needing money over the phone and if you ever do it'll be asked face to face instead.

Happened to my father in-law three months ago, thought it was his grandson, voice was dead on and details to lead him to believe it was his grandson. Scammed out of $7, 800. Reported to police and description of person picking up money. A month and a half later they caught the pick up man getting money from an informed senior. The guy sang like a canary, warrants done on a residence, large amounts of money located, AI Tech and computers, phones seized. Think 9 arrests made thus far. They were making and get this, 300-350 calls per day! At least some money was recovered and some seniors will get their money back.

My mom got a call one morning from someone that sounded just like my son saying that he was in another state and had been arrested for drunk driving. Luckily my mom is pretty sharp and called me on her cell phone without them knowing. The three-way call got pretty interesting...lol

Someone called my mom here in Torrington Connecticut an said "mom I was in a bad accident an got arrested I need money" basically she said she was so sure it was me she almost did but luckily she is smart an called my phone right after she got that call an I answered an was like I'm working an ofcourse I was driving so that whole time I felt like I was living in a paradox.
