How Many Genders Are There... Really?

I'm amazed that this conversation is happening at all, and wanted to speak on the subject... I'm sure this dialogue may be triggering for some, and there's surely a lot more areas that were left undiscussed in this video. For instance - addressing the clear controversy and issue of men identifying in women's sports, and then destroying the unfair competition... But that said, this is a starting place for the dialogue.

Very well said. And very much needed these days. I feel like people put way too much weight on labeling stuff, instead of just accepting who they truly are and going with the flow.

In the western psychology there is a concept that each individual has their feminine and masculine aspect - animus and anima. One of which is more dominant, one less dominant. So for example, I’d say I am around 60%(ish) feminine, 40%(ish) masculine. Basically, I am a guy whose personality traits are more feminine than masculine. And I see absolutely NO REASON for myself to start using different pronouns or different grammar.

Can I simply be a feminine dude? Just like that. No pronouns, no b. s. Can we just acknowledge that we all do have feminine and masculine aspects within ourselves in different ratios? That’s all there is to it. It’s as simple as that. Do we really have to come up with all this non-binary-neopronouns stuff? To me, it’s completely unnecessary, it’s like reinventing the wheel all over again.

We can stretch even further back in time to ancient China, to the concept of Yin and Yang. My point is - the concept of feminine and masculine aspects coexisting within the psyche of one person is nothing new. It’s been around for ages. There is absolutely no need to overcomplicate it, no need to make such a fuss around it.

I think I take issue with the need to label ourselves. Personally, I am a biological female with sometimes very masculine tendencies and presentation. Other days I feel very feminine. I don’t understand how that could change my gender. What is wrong with being a masculine woman? Can we accept biological reality and the laws of nature yet still accept ourselves as non conforming beings? I think as we head into a new age, the pendulum is swinging very far to one side and people might be taking the labeling a little far as we try to collectively balance our masculine and feminine energies. Just a thought. And obviously only from my personal perspective and experience.

You make a great point though. We need to be very clear about our definitions of gender and sex when speaking about this topic! There’s so much unnecessary confusion. Communication!

Also, I don’t quite understand feeling like a man or a woman. Feeling masculine or feminine I totally get. It’s the experiences that make us feel like a man or woman. For example, I am half black and half white. There is no way to FEEL like a black person or a white person. You can get treated as one, but it’s only the experience that can make you feel like one or the other. I’d love to have a deeper discussion/debate with people who can set aside ego and try to understand each other. I appreciate the explanation thus far. I’m always trying to understand! ✌🏽 & ❤

Jordans perspective has alwas been open and loving. That being said. Nothing that teaches and/or validates directly or indirectly people to hate other people could be right. By now our gut feeling should know that. Otherwise there's still much to heal. Please be kind to others. Stop playing into conversations that lead nowhere on a day to day base. Act up on what you believe. Go out there to the real world and address the real issues in your communities if there are any physical ones you're a part of at all. As a basic video explaining the expanse of gender identity and spirituality, this does very well. I think the explanation of different levels is very well put, however not everyone fits into these molds. In a more advanced topic, there are those who are intersex at birth and despite chromosomes or identification by doctors, people grow up being entirely uncomfortable with what they've been assigned. Allowing everyone to cater to their own experiences and transform themselves into who they want to be is a harmonic expression of their soul, and how they feel. Transgenderism and even demigenderism or agenderism is a way to become who you are inside and through your soul. A very small portion of people have a negative experience with testing the waters and finding their identity but all I've seen who choose this direction are happier and healthier than they ever were before, and I include myself in that. Thank you for the video. ❤

I dont know why people care how others want to live their lives. We should all want the most humans being the most "well" and happy and etc. If identifying as whatever gender you feel like makes you live better, than that should be okay with everyone. If you have a problem with others, look at yourself. Thats all I can say. Just look at yourself and let others be, they arent hurting anyone by expressing themselves as whatever gender they want. If they are hurting people thats a seperate issue not related to gender at all.

Thank you for this message and putting emphasis on language. In college my professor told me there’s a difference between sex and gender and it was the first time I ever learned or heard that. Being who I am and what I’ve gone through and do everyday I value this message of truth you shared.
