Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick plans to weigh-in on SB 7, or the Election & Ballot Security Bill, which Gov. Abbott described as a way to prevent voter fraud and protect voter integrity. Yet, many opponents of the bill call it restrictive and refer to it as a "voter suppression bill."

SB 7 would limit extended early-voting hours, prohibit drive-thru voting and make it illegal for local election officials to proactively send applications to vote by mail to voters, even if they qualify.
