Ableton Live Looping Setup Walkthrough

Today I'm walking through my Ableton Live looping setup that I featured in yesterday's jam video! This setup is actually really simple, and basically uses the default factory templates for all of the involved gear. While not perfect, it works pretty well, and has really helped me understand how Ableton's session view works a lot better! Enjoy the video :)

I used to record loops into Ableton but inserted a looper onto the tracks. This is useful because you can set and change the length of the loop which means it will automatically stop or play or go into overdub mode at the end of recording. I use a Softstep as my trigger but now use the looper on Deluge to record loops.

Nice! This is very helpful, as I am just starting to understand how Session mode works in Ableton. I need a lot more practice, but I think I can do a somewhat similar setup w/ the Launchpad Mini. Thanks!

I'm not sure if the launchpad works the same as the launchkey (I have the launchkey mini mk3), but with ableton, if I want to do fixed length recordings, I can just create blank midi clips of the length I want, then when I record into them, the recording fits into the pre-made clip.

1. If you record into Ableton I bet the volume changes and other knob movements also get recorded into the clip.
2. I am sure you can bind a Launchpad custom key to the "clear latest clip recording" in Live so you can get rid of errors.
3. I want to steal your drumming skills. Badly.
