Hello I’m new to this so when this router is fully setup do I have to have it plugged in to my existing router (xfinity) or I can use it in the basement where I have low WiFi reception and use it stand alone?

Go to your Wi-Fi setting and click on your Wi-Fi then u will see the router IP address . Search that up Andreas and u will get it..
