Currently in the middle of completing my Google IT Support certificate, and already landed a good job. Definitely looking forward to getting more certifications. Thanks for the video!

My long time friend landed himself a career in this and is already making almost 100k within 2-3yrs. I am working hard wiring up houses for 3 times less pay, though I could make 60hr, it won't be as quickly earned. I'm motivated now to jump on this new and booming career. Currently watching an 8hr long cybersecurity course on YT. So far I'm enjoying it!

Being able to compromise is key in cyber security. Not everything can be done like what you read in a textbook. Certain controls will break your systems. But you still have to protect them. Finding alternate ways of doing things becomes your entire job.

Great video. Have A+, N+, and sec+. Been in the industry for 8 months. Was planning getting into more of a blue team role. But decided to go for more of a risk management role instead (end game is CISSP). This video helped. Here in Cali, help desk role is $24 (my current rate) I noticed some SOC positions getting less. So, thank you for stating that SOME analysis positions are entry level.

Thanks for these vids, Nicole. You're helping people like me (noobs who feel overwhelmed with the tech industry) form a solid plan of attack for getting our careers off the ground. Keep up the good work👍

I'm in the Dallas area and agree that Dallas organizations offer good compensation for SOC analysts. Dallas has a reasonable cost of living, too.

Nicole I have a few questions.
1.) Do you think I could work for an American company and live overseas?
2.) Why did you choose to be a CSA?
3.) Where do you see yourself in 3 years?

Really know ur worth. I get underpaid but honestly I came from help desk. And I’m in it for the experience. So they liked my passion and my commitment. So far I learned more in these past months working than I did in years. Learn software. Know ur services. Know python scripts your normal windows services. Be naturally curious u don’t want to miss your first incident response. I don’t have certs. I just have commitment. And passion. And know my ports lol.

I am from the Houston area and currently enrolled in a computer science- cyber security degree program from Liberty university and I learned a lot from your video and I’m definitely excited to learn more in this new field. I have a knack for IT and I want to learn all I can from future internships and other companies to network here.

Great video, you hit some key points that are relevant to me. I haven’t entered the cybersecurity workforce yet but will eventually. I completed my BSIS and about to complete my Masters in cybersecurity management and policies, I also live in the Atlanta region. I’m taking an educational sabbatical since I’ve retired from the military and plan to get my PhD or DIT before or between looking for a job. I’m originally from Ohio and have been offered positions over there for the DoD, but have not decided. You have an cheerfully personality and look forward to future videos and information.

Yes, a recruiter called me if I would be interested in a position as a SOC analyst since I have IT experience and returned to college to pursue a double-degree in Cyber-security and Information Security & Assurance. Cheers!

I want to get in this field ASAP, was told to stop wasting time on A+ and go straight for security+. Going to start self studying on testout and then maybe take a class at a college here. Hoping to enter the field by the end of the year. Need to tune my resume from sales to IT first.
