🎥 More about this video:
Celebrities: we want to be them, we want to be with them. And boy, do they know it! More and more celebrities are taking their personal brands and venturing into the world of business, selling us skincare, gin, athletic wear, and maybe a jade egg or two. But just because our faves “made” these products, do we have to buy them? This video is for my deinfluencing series where I talk about products that have a ton of buzz but might not have much else. You can check out the others in this series about viral designer goods and popular home decor.

Celebrity brands translate to: "I'm going to take an everyday product that is priced reasonably, slap my name on it, mark up the price by 500%, and sell it to my idiot fans."

I don’t understand why celebrity endorsements work on so many people. Typically, if I see a celebrity endorsing a product, it means that the products sucks and that I should look for a product that focuses on meeting customers’ needs rather than marketing.

“Toilet” used to be understood as just personal grooming (rather than the WC facility) so “toilet soap” made sense at the time lol. It’s also why the painting “Toilet of Venus” shows Venus being groomed by little cherubs and not actually sitting on a commode lol

My sister, who has worked in the corporate sector of luxury skincare for 20 years, once told me that if you're spending more than $30 on a serum or moisturizer you are 100% getting punked and likely paying for the heritage name, celebrity brand model, and CEO salaries. Never forgot it, never will.

girl don't fall for the whole clean/nontoxic marketing. it's all likes to sell more products, the opposite of what you preach, please don't endorse the honest company like that

I think you’re a good role model for thoughtful consumption for young women! My teenage nieces are hooked to your channel and I’m so thankful for that!
Cheers!

I got myself a new hair dryer.
The influence was that my old one died.
I guess I'm done spending money on stuff for a while.

Mr Beast’s Feastables are a big one. They’re everywhere these days, but taste absolutely awful.

$60 for a clothing "subscription" and then you don't even get anything is just crazy! People will pay for just about anything.

I never knew Newman’s was a celeb brand, I just liked their stuff on its own

Lol I loved it when South Park made fun of Prime calling it CRED.

I used to love Fabletics but cancelled my subscription a couple years ago. I had like 35 pairs of leggings at the end. No one needs that many leggings! Since I had so many I was able to see how the quality declined over the years. The last couple pairs I got were literally see through!

I've been saying for years that these millionaire celebrities are highly unlikely to actually be using the lower-end, easily accessible products they're endorsing. They're paying for the best of the best for everything. That actress you love ain't hitting up her local CVS for a $7 shampoo. She's spending $$$$ on top stylists and products.

I love how you break through the shine and appeal of celebrity and hype to take an honest and pragmatic look at trends and products 👏 channels like yours are key to a better life today and a better future going forward—I know that it’s really helped in my own journey this year of spending SO much less, and just as importantly, wanting less at the same time. Less is more, in so many ways 😊 keep up the awesome work!

There's actually been a lot of issues and ethical concerns over The Honest Company.

As someone who has experience with the spirituality/wellness industry - Goop's psychic vampire repellent spray is profoundly ironic.

I don’t know, I have to disagree about The Honest Company. They have been known to get into lawsuits regarding their “all natural” marketing. They deny, and then settle lawsuits but never admit any wrongdoing. Seems shady to me.

Ultimately we just have to stop obsessing over celebrities like they’re just regular people stop giving them money and power folks

i loved when you talked about the environmental impact of savage x fenty, i think it would be really interesting if you did a video on either the environmental impact of fashion or the greenwashing of different companies/brands! i love your perspective

As a melanated woman who lives abroad, Fenty Beauty is CLUTCH in finding makeup that actually matches me internationally.
