Civilian pilot: You know, I'm something of an actor myself.

That unknown Japanese pilot isn't that unknown. He was called Watanabe!!

Imagine the civilian pilot was a world war 2 ace having a PTSD episode and he thought he was about to single handedly engage in a massive dogfight against the Japanese just like old times 😭😂

The scene where a japanese plane crashes into a hangar was a stunt gone wrong. Those ground crew seen running for their lives really did run for their lives!

How… how the hell do you accidentally fly into the formation??

This is one of the greatest movies ever made, not because of its effects, , story, or action. But because it was made by two peoples. Both who years before worked to exterminate the other in hatred. And created something that will last forever together. Tora tora tora to me, as a film maker. Was the first step of actually healing. To make a movie together about a sneak attack, one seeing it was the most dishonorable attack in it's history up to that point

The other a haunting moment that began it's countrie's obliteration.

Watching that movie was the only time I ever saw my dad tear up ... he served in the U.S. Navy 1933~1966.
Had nothing good to say about Japan.😢

I recall hearing that two different film crews were formed and essentially filmed two different movies, one American and the other Japanese. To this day, I still think that was a very effective way to go about it and the end product speaks for itself as it has stood the test of time.

No this was in the 70's WW2 was still fresh in everyone's mind. When the Civilian saw all those zero's he probably crapped himself.

And the reason this film was such a success was because it had two film crews as well as an American and Japanese technical advisers there. And the team of Japanese Advisors consisted of Imperial Japanese Veterans who were actually there and had Survived the War.

Also folks if you catch as the planes fly over the mountains you see the holy beautiful cross which wasn’t there in those days, it was put up where they snuck through to attack Pearl Harbor

My headcannon is it was someone who was there at pearl harbor and did it to make sure he wasn’t going crazy seeing those planes again
