I feel like the divide between sweaty and casual players in any game like this is inevitable, we've seen it over and over again with games like survival games, UHC, skywars, bedwars, etc. and it's simply just because as the games age, the players get better, which inevitably makes it more difficult for new players to get into it and eventually kills off the game.

I also feel like adding skill-based matchmaking to these games would just make the good players quit due to the overly competitive nature which would be less fun for them. Most higher-skilled players still play the game casually, they just happen to be a lot better than new players due to being more experienced. Therefore adding sbmm would cause every game to be a sweatfest for them and that would be pretty unenjoyable. The only other alternative to these players quitting in the scenario sbmm is added is that the more skilled players would begin using alt accounts with low stats to avoid the matchmaking. This would just continue the cycle of new players fighting good players resulting in them having a worse experience. Due to all these reasons, I really don't see matchmaking being a reasonable solution to the problem.

I haven't really got a solution of my own though, like I said I think this outcome is inevitable for these types of games. In my opinion, it would be beneficial for Hypixel to keep bringing out new games for players to learn and enjoy for the first time again, games where we can all be new players for at least a few months or so. We saw this with wool wars but sadly that didn't last long (I think due to them adding matchmaking, but idk I wasn't really around for that).

I think the fact that these games keep dying out and the playerbase keeps getting divided in skill can also be a symbol of 1.8 PvP getting stale. People have really mastered how the PvP mechanics work on this version making it really difficult for new players to get good. Bedwars offered a new type of PvP with just a sword and blocks, no projectiles, which I think had quite a knock-on effect as I've seen quite a few PvP practice servers with similar modes nowadays, a lot of them being practice directly for Bedwars like bed fight and top bridge duels.

1.8 is really limited with what Hypixel or any other server can do in terms of creating new games for their players to get good at again, I mean we're playing on a decade-old version of Minecraft, so many things have been done already, so who knows how many more games they can push out before 1.8 completely dies out.

Atlhough I'm a Duels player, . I sometimes do like to play BedWars with my duo, and totally agree, now it's just based about playing the most annoying possible and sacrificing having fun just to win the game, my friend and I can't stand to play more than 5 games a day because it's just painful.

if you get an overlay and dodge high star parties you should get more casual results

Solution: add more variation, such as casual bedwars with less or none exp gain, but maybe the same amount of coin gain, because cosmetics.

I think that the main thing killing this game is getting youtubers out here and saying the game is dead is driving new players and people who want to come back to it away, resulting in a lower amount of casual players. I also believe that the majority of the playerbase are sweats due to the fact that they have put tons of time and effort to get good at the game and that you should not be sitting here blaming them for the fact that content creators like you are the real reason this game is dying. How often do you see youtubers promoting hypixel content anymore? The majority of people I have met on hypixel had all joined because they saw youtubers playing a game and they wanted to join in on the fun. Why can't people just accept that in anything that has a competitive aspect to it there will always be a gap in skill? I am sad and dissapointed with what the hypixel content creators have come to and that they have stooped so low for some views. Shame on you all.
