My four month hiatus is over, ladies and gentlemen! I took some time to find myself during these last few months, and boy was that a mistake! So I’m back now, and maybe my upload schedule will be a bit more frequent! Or maybe not! I hate commitment!

Here are the Archive lore tablets if you want to look at them yourself.

3:34 I want to clarify this section. In the video, I was confused by the word themkin. My confusion stemmed from my interpretation of the word "kin". I thought it was referring to literal relatives, but this line makes more sense if you think of kin as beings of a similar kind or of similar power.

There is proof that this is what Monomon meant thanks to the lore tablet in the White Palace. It reads "No blazing kin. Only one light shall shine against the dark." The Pale King is basically saying that there will only be one light, his own pale light, because he is going to get rid of his "blazing kin". Blazing is a word that is only ever used to describe the Radiance. The Moss Prophet uses the word when praying to the Radiance. "Hallownest is born again, united in your blazing image." This confirms that the Pale King and the Radiance are kin, hence the word "themkin"

Theory: the jellyfish, and by extension Monomon's work, are an extremely early attempt to contain the Radiance. Consider the following:

1. There's an obvious parallel between the vessels and the jellyfish: Both have their bodies built around something else, they both contain something. The jellyfish contain their orange cores which behave almost as if they were an independent being.

2. In fact... those orange cores look like infection. Which would suggest the jellyfish contain infection, possibly were designed for that purpose. To be fair, the color orange is used in a lot of bodily fluids in this game.

3. Also, the orange cores charge at you the moment the're freed. We know the infection knows and hates the knight. But why does it only attack when the jellyfish is broken? Because, unlike other possessed creatures, the infection holds no sway over the jellyfish. The jellyfish is containing that blob of infection, and so long as the jellyfish endures, it is powerless.

4. One of the most interesting and well know facts about jellyfish, which is clearly visible due to their transparency, is that they *don't have brains*, instead only having a very basic neural system. The're very mindless creatures, and we already know a lack of a mind of one's own was a requirement for the vessel to work. This might be why Team Cherry choose jellyfishes for this role.

5. So why did this attempt to contain the infection not work? I'd posit two theories, which might both be true:

5.1. Because the jellyfish are merely organic lifeforms, lacking the mysterious power of the void. The void seems to have the quality of sucking things in, and might thus be a vital component for sucking the Radiance's mind into the prison. The jellyfish are capable of containing individual blobs of infection, but not the Radiance as a whole, and without taking out Radiance herself, its all futile since her influence causes infection to bubble out from the bugs themselves. You can't wrap jellyfishes around an infection that starts inside people.

5.2. The vessels are a contradiction: They are mindless, yet are capable of intelligent thought. They both have and don't have a will. This contradiction, enabled by the void, might itself also have been a necessary component of trapping the Radiance. After all, how do you give orders to a completely mindless being? There's nothing to compel the Jellyfish to do their job.

6. Do you solve problems by going straight for the nuclear option? Nope! You start small and escalate as needed. It wouldn't make much sense for the Pale King's gigantic masterplan to be his first attempt. Starting off with simple organic lifeforms seems like a nice prelude to eventually escalating to the much more complicated and exotic vessels, not to mention all the measures and sacrifices required to form the seal.

I think you missed the most important part of her lore tablets.

There was repeated mentions of "ABA", clearly this was promotion of ABBAs reunion.

In fact I'm rather surprised you didn't cotton on to all the ABBA references though the game, there's the "Dancing Queen", who dances an eternal dance to keep at bay the forces of evil, adorned in roses - a traditional flower of the dance. "Mamma Mia", there it goes again - another vessel, drawn home to try and stop the Radiance, only to be broken.

After all this though, "The Winner Takes it All", as you defeat the Radiance and live claimed the King's Mark - Hallownest is all yours.

I can tell you, when ABBA come out on stage on their reunion tour dressed as jellyfish you're going to kick yourself for missing the most obvious thing in existence.

I didn't realize that this video was old until you said "Hornet dlc" at the end.

Oh we were all so naive.

I'd like to point out that Team Cherry liked this video so, it is obviously completely factual

Cool vid dude, but I think there's something pretty big you missed regarding the jellyfish: the fact that their core seems to be made of the infection. There's really no reason for Monomon to even touch this stuff unless A) it was necessary to create life, or, more likely, B) Monomon wasn't just randomly conducting experiments to create life, but he was in fact attempting to contain the infection within these jellyfish.
And that method of containing something bad within a vessel, now that sounds all too familiar, does it not? I think the Pale King was inspired by Monomon's method and applied it to the containment of the Radiance.

I lost it at "non-fiction work 1984". That was fantastic. xD

I like your theory of Monomon having some direct involvement in helping the Pale King at least figure out how to create life.
I always viewed those tablets as things Monomon worked out herself, highlighting just how smart she really was.

Though, I suppose it is equally likely that if Monomon does have 4th-wall breaking powers (referencing "Enfield"), she could have "figured everything out" through that knowledge instead.

Either way, great video. :)

aba (אבא) means "dad" in hebrew. em (אם, הם) means "mother" or "they". ch means absolutely nothing to do with hebrew. o (או) means "or" in hebrew. thir isn't a word in hebrew, but maybe it was supposed to be shir (שיר) wich means "song".
maybe "a hebraic moth" IS something?!

I personally hold the belief that the jellies are prototypes of a sort for containing the infection, grown from samples Monomon took from herself. They work for containing the physical infection, but because the infection also has a spiritual/psychological source, more drastic measures had to be taken in the form of the vessels.

Remember that Hallownest was a civilization that thrived for a good period of time, it's safe to assume that Monomon and the rest had their own business for many years before the Radiance came about and the Pale King started devising methods to contain it. Remember how the Soul Tyrant says that they tried to contain the infection but the King was against their methods? I think that maybe the Pale King had a lot of subordinates working on different solutions that didn't work out. We don't know when he discovered the Void but it was probably at the end things, since he was clearly running out of time to come up with a soluton for the Radiance.

"ungrowth" "allthink" "endthink" you're right, this is very newspeaky

It could be that monomon was hiding a word by splitting it in two. ALLTHINK-ENFIELD becomes ALLTHINKING FIELD, like how the Pale King’s gift of intelligence has a maximum range.

I always considered the lore tablet things to be some sort of computer code, and the 'meaningless' words like 'ABA' and 'CH' programming terms knitting the process together. Why of course is still a total mystery...but maybe Monomon was running some kinda liquid-based simulation in her archives to determine the success or failure of the Pale King's plans? It would perhaps help explain why the King at some point fully committed to the Vessal plan, if he had been given information like this that had shown a likely chance of at least partial success.

8:25 Yes. If you knew about Miller's experiment in 1953, sparks of electricity symbolizing lightning were required to create organic molecules, the building blocks of life. Without this electricity, the organic molecules would never have been created and life would've never existed.

Now excuse me as I continue studying for my biology exam at 3am in the morning whilst watching YT videos
