Presence, Healing & Purpose Ep 2
The Neurobiology of Stress
with Brad Hodges

I'm Mike Vaccaro - Mindfulness Based Counsellor & Coach.
Welcome to Presence, Healing & Purpose - conversations that inspire positive change in your world.

I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I am, Bundjalung Country, and pay respect to their elders and customs, past, present and emerging.

Today’s podcast is one of four offerings within The Monthly Value - an email sharing resources on psycho-education, self-care and self-mastery. (If you would like to receive a monthly email with free resources see the link below.)

For this episode my guest is Brad Hodges and we will be discussing the neurobiology of stress.

Brad Hodges
Brad is the director of Go Neuro - Providing consultancy, training and supervision based on the Neuroscience of Health, Happiness, Relationships and Performance. Brad says: “Go Neuro will provide you with the knowledge to live a consciously informed life, feeling more in control of your future and enhance your existing strengths while empowering you towards your goals.” Since 2003 Brad has engaged in formal tertiary studies, professional and therapeutic roles. He holds an undergraduate bachelor degree in Social Science majoring in behavioural science and counselling, and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and is a level 4 member of the Australian Counselling Association. Brad is passionate about neuroscience and how these insights help us understand why we think, feel and behave the way we do. He has specialist knowledge in how lifestyle factors can empower neurogenesis, our brain's ability to create new neurons throughout the human lifespan, achieving a thriving mind, body, relationships and performance. These neuroscience insights are integrated with evidence-based counselling, psychotherapy and psychoeducational techniques to guide a healing, integrative and skill developmental journey to optimise our quality of life and relationships. Since 2015 Brad has expanded his experience into supervisory and clinical roles, supporting other practitioners and professionals with neuroscience insights into reflective practice, critical incident debriefing, cutting edge holistic self-care approaches and empowering therapeutic practices. Brad has delivered masterclasses and keynote speeches at conferences and believes knowledge empowers success, well-being and happiness.”

In today's conversation we will cover
- Brain Anatomy
- The Stress Response System
- Stress overload
- Practical evidence based tips based on neuroscience research

It was one of these evenings that sparked the inspiration for Executive Psychology. Mike lives a stone’s throw from the beach with his fiancé and their 4 year-old daughter. When he’s not in the playground, he loves composing music and swimming in the river at Brunswick Heads Australia.
