It's so frustrating when I get hit by one single green shell, and all of a sudden I go from 2nd place to 9th

I COULD NOT tell you how many times I've been hit 2 seconds before the finish line, causing me to go from 1st to 7th in seconds.

Tip #9 When you get zapped by the Lightning item, you Will become small, making you also become slow. Depending on which place you are in the race (1st, 2nd, 3rd) you will regain your full size more quickly or more slowly than other racers (1st place regaining full size last). If you regain full size before a racer around you, you can drive over them, which makes their vehicle stop!

My tips:
-Go without smart steering! Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to go way faster and get those sweet pink boosts.
-If you're getting the coin item from every item box, quit using the coin! If you hold onto it, your next item won't be a coin as you can't have two coin items at the same time.
-When you're in first place, don't hold your items behind you until you know you need to because someone is trailing you or a shell is on its way. The blue shell won't take your item if you are just holding it.
-If you're falling behind, trail the racer in front of you. You will get a large boost and race ahead of them!

Tip #8, in 200cc BREAKING IS ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL! When they say breaking is highly recommend, they’re not kidding. It help when encountering tight turns that would normally be tolerable in 150cc.
Bonus tip: Some turns in 200cc would require an even tighter turn; breaking while drifting doesn’t always work. The best way to get that sweet drift master turn is to not use the mini boast to speed up by letting go of A just when that tight turn comes. This is especially useful in rainbow road

Little tip about the coins; if you get a coin box it actually gives you 2 coins. When you collect 3 coins in a row in a race, you get a pretty nice boost. So when you have a coin block, drive into 1 (or more) coins and activate it right after hitting the coin. First I thought coin boxes where shit, but they provide some easy boosts.

Here's my 10 cents: in addition to being able to pull up or down when using gliders, you can also do the same thing without gliders when you're on a regular jump. Usually you want to come down as fast as you can because you're typically faster on the ground, however, especially with a lightweight character, you can sometimes take shortcuts and skip large sections of track if you pull up.

tip 9, in first place, if you want a protection item, keep hold of a coin in the other slot. it will ensure you get an actual item next time.

There is actually 5 weight classes. Featherweight, Light, Medium, Heavy, and Cruiser. Featherweight has the best handling stats. Light has 3-4 in each category but has better stats in handling. Medium as averaged out stats. Heavy has more grip than any other weight classes. Cruiser is the heaviest class and has very very slow acceleration but it's top speed is 10/10

the jump boosts can actually make you fly off the track if you do it wrong in 200cc

take the jump boosts in wario stadium & excite bike arena stages for example

arekks forgot to mention that's the pink drift boost doesn't happen if you have smart steering on.

Another small tip is if you get inked you can use a mushroom, speed pad or flight pad gets rid of it

For #1, if you start immediately after the 2, you'll get a boost that lasts to the starting line

At 2:33 the snake he's heading for you can use the spine for speed boosts it's really effective I'm disappointed he didn't show that in the video
