Despite being thrown into the public eye for most of her marriage to a country music star, Johnny Cash's first wife was all but forgotten by Hollywood. But in a new documentary available for a limited time on Amazon, her daughters set the record straight. "My Darling Vivian" filmmakers Matt Riddlehoover and Dustin Tittle (the grandson of Johnny Cash) tell CBSN's Reena Ninan the untold story of Vivian Liberto.

I watched the documentary. My heart broke when at Johnny Cash's tribute, nothing was mentioned about Vivian. She sat in the audience listening to people share their fond memories of Johnny and his devotion to June. At that moment, Vivian was a mere audience member. How does one get erased from history? This is how.

Good for them reclaiming their grandmother’s legacy.

The fact she was totally ignored at his tribute show, and the song dedicated to her cut out of the broadcast? I’m floored.

She's a beautiful woman and I've never heard about her. It's good they did this to get the truth out there. I cant imagine how hard that relationship was on her. Sadness, loneliness, and despair probably.

There’s always so much to a woman’s story, especially the first wife of a man. So heart-breaking 💔
So glad her story is told and remembered by her family.❤️

I remember her from the movie and it was a brutal betrayal when actually Johnny was the messed up one in that relationship. She was very beautiful. Good for you defending your mom ❤️

I love this. I loved Johnny Cash's music, but never respected him as a man. You can't preach the word of God and do this to your wife. Vivienne was breathtaking and obviously a true lady.

I always despised the fact they could make a movie about the love affair of Johnny Cash and June with absolutely no regard for the first wife. My heart broke for her while watching the movie and I held so much disdain for Johnny and June for the fact they could do that to her. The world was so obsessed with Johnny and June as a couple and I found it morally repulsive. It was sooo sad.

Even a blind man could see that Vivian had black ancestry you could even see it in her grandson with the blue shirt . I think later it was proven that Vivian’s mother had black ancestry. It’s possible her own mother may have “passed” herself as white. Vivian deserves for her story to be told on the big screen.

That's a mixed race black woman. I come from a mixed race family I know a biracial black woman when I see one. Maybe the pressure of it all caused the marriage to fail and for him to choose a white woman. Which would explain why she is shown in such a negative light and June shown to be an angel although she was Sleeping with a married man.

She was Italian and black. Don’t get it twisted. This was denial at the time from her POV, all in concerns for their kids safety, cash and then hers, for obvious reasons due to racial tensions. She sacrificed a lot.

My Darling Vivian was such a eye opening doc. My heart broke for her. Her look was exotic and beautiful. She really got a bad deal. I now hate the “ walk the line” movie. How dare they!

I read the book "I walked the line" My life with Johnny Cash...and felt nothing but sympathy for Vivian she was done wrong and endured so much living with and without Johnny. I was not happy to read how June went after Johnny knowing he was married...nor how Johnny abandoned his family. I have much respect for Vivian and my heart broke for her having to endure so much heartache. Their kids had to have suffered too.

I actually don’t think Vivian was portrayed badly in Walk the Line … I felt an extraordinary amount of sympathy for her in the film.
Also in the actual photos she’s very beautiful.

As much as I love Johnny Cash, he did her so wrong. Happy that her grandchildren are telling her story. She was an absolutely stunning woman
