Game flow of the table matters significantly and history of these 2 and how rui was playing. This is a major contributing factor on how the hand played out. Durr does not check raise on Ace high dry flops much anymore with value, and prefers more of a check call strategy to let his opponents make mistakes, as does the rest of this table in the entirety of this episode. And rui was playing so loose and was prepared to call down with 87o on that river, he wasn’t joking he was playing his button position till the river no matter what.

I mean pocket eights and QT both make a ton of sense. Probably can’t fold vs a capable player like Dwan. But I don’t think thinking about it for 30 seconds on the river is as unreasonable as Tom is making it seem.

Durrr never stands up at the table in the middle of hand, on the turn asking his opponent how much he has behind any time he has ever had a strong hand.
