Bible teacher Derek Prince highlights Jesus ministry as a Priest. Jesus is the Pattern of our own priestly ministry. Jesus was and is a Priest.

The author of the letter to the Hebrews describes the sacrifices Jesus' offered:
a. He offered prayer in His earthly ministry (Heb. 13:15)
b. He offered up Himself by the Spirit to the Father on the cross (Heb. 9:14)
c. Jesus continues to intercede in eternity (Heb. 7:24). He shares His burden with those who are called as intercessors.

Jesus is our pattern in this. We are called to the same ministry: to prayer, to the offering of ourselves (as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1), and to the ministry of ongoing intercession.

Might I inquire into the nuanced theological conundrum arising from the Levitical requirements stated in chapters 20-21, which mandate that a High Priest must be without defilement, including bruises? Given that Jesus bore many bruises during His crucifixion, does this conflict with His role as the eternal High Priest? Was this criterion relaxed in His case, or should we understand that Jesus fulfilled His priestly duties only after His ascension, when He offered His blood at the heavenly altar?
