Thank you to my friend Jim for allowing me to take a ride on this beautiful machine! It is a great bike and would probably do some damage off road with some proper tires. Let me know buddy and I'll take it out when you're at work again!

Thank you for watching! Please like, subscribe and if you feel up to it, leave a comment! It helps my videos get some traction with the YouTube algorithm.

It´s a really nice and easy to handle Bike. Rode the GS for nearly ten years (2000 - 2009) and it always did well.

Best video I've seen, and has swayd me once again 😅😂 Will get 1 here in the northern cape of South Africa and see how she agrees with the terrain 👍🏻❤️

Nice and comprehensive video. Loved the introduction to the Bike. Had one for a couple years and am buying another. Was great to run errands on or scoot uptown to see a movie, although I have watched videos of people riding them around the world. Extremely reliable And easy to maintain. I loved the Rotax dry some engine also. Makes great power for the highway, unlike some other large displacements singles out there.

Thanks for making the video. As we’ve already discussed since then the front tire was almost flat, and the oil was way overfilled thanks to the dealer service that the OP had done right before he sold it to me sight unseen.
It’s not the first bike of mine you’ve ridden before I have, but at least you didn’t have to go pick this one up. 😁
The Dakar is a ‘05, it’s fuel injected, and it’s been a great bike thus far. I’ll still take it to the Vintage Festival one year hopefully but it’ll be on a trailer scratched up with knobby tires instead of pristine.
I was able to rotate the handlebars up enough to make them work a lot better. The hand guards were upside down, so I changed them around. The ABS comes back on after shutting the bike down, so has to be disabled again every start up if you want to disable it.
Now I just have to get back home again to put a front knobby tire and get back to riding it again. Or if I’m gone for another three months you can go take the bikes for a ride again. 😁

I just picked up this exact bike for $3k, 15k miles. I'm kinda shocked at how easy and fun this is to ride, compared to my f800gs. It'll be perfect for family to learn on.

Looks like a fine bike. I always like the upright riding position. Less pressure on your arms and back.

Geez, I'm pretty sure the bike does not "grip your legs pretty tight!" I'm pretty sure it's the legs that grip the bike!

Great Scooter. I’ve put a few miles on a standard f650gs back in the day.
I can understand your friends desire to keep it stock.
Me personally, I’d throw some trackmasters on it and thrash it.

Nice video, but there is definitely something wrong with your color contrast filter.

Nearly Impossible to find one of these for sale. That should tell you something.

What made you say that you'd better get going before it overheats? Was there a problem with this model in general or just this bike specifically?
