I caught this Apache Jumping Spider over the weekend. If you go back a few videos, you’ll see how I found an orange one and it was stolen by a dragonfly! That was an amazing experience but I was very disappointed to lose the spider in the process. I was driving by a fence post and saw a black spot move so I turned around and saw that it was a spider. As I got closer I saw that it was another red jumping spider! I was able to catch it in a sandwich bag and brought it home! I’ll make some more videos of this spider here shortly!

What is Cobweb Castle and the Spider Keep?

Cobweb Castle LLC was formed in 2020 by Elliott Stanton as he was wrapping up a career in the military. The company launched the patent pending Spider Keep as a wooden habitat designed for the Southern House Spider or Kukulcania hibernalis. These are harmless spiders which proliferate in the Southern states. Elliott had been working over a decade on a design that would allow the unique behavior of Southern House Spider to be observed in a controlled environment. The Spider Keep has been featured on channels such as Clint's Reptiles and The Tarantula Collective. Currently, Elliott continues to grow Cobweb Castle through building the YouTube Channel and updating the wooden habitats to a new plastic design.

Most spiders don’t have this cuteness effect. I’m glad God made one species we could feel kindred to. I love the picture of the jumping spider with a bead of dew on his head. So cute.

I had never seen jumping spider fangs before since they’re always hidden, crazy to imagine how big human fangs would be if we had them to scale

Their fangs are huge do they ever have a tendency to bite at all? I didn’t realize they were as big as the ones these little guys have on them.

Can jumping spiders be close to eachother and live together or will they start fighting? I notice that sometimes they don’t attack eachother
