The equivalent of a "DFA" fader on the PA desk - when asked to "turn down" by the venue you just adjust the fader which stands for "Does F**k All"!

i once did a gig where the producer motioned his thumb down which i took to mean turn down..since i wasn't playing loud so out of spite i motioned pretending to turn up on my volume knob..i guess he couldn't tell what i was doing and gave me the thumbs up.

Well...we produicers do have our musician switches too, only difference is they're imaginary. A musician goes "can you make the cymbals just a tiny bit more airy in my headphones?", then you just put your hands on the console and the musician goes "perfect! right there right there! don't move it!, wow man now this really sings, now I can play a good solo over this".
