I never imagined that I would be adding a book about an octopus on my wishlist, but you have made me want to read it so much!

Hahaha, hipster Ariel...I am the same. I avoid the hyped books and also trace it to being a rebellious child and being rebellious in general. 😳 Rules of Civility sounds so good. The themes you mention really resonate with me.

Rules of Civility is one of those books I heard about awhile ago but never did pick up, even though it's been on my wishlist for awhile now. I may have to grab that one soon. Your enthusiasm for it is contagious! :)

The way you talk about books makes me want to go out and get them immediately!

Welp, now I can't do anything else until I read "The Soul of an Octopus." It sounds absolutely delightful. Thanks for sharing! :)

Thought I would pop up out of subscriber lurkdom to tell you that your wrapups are always so entertaining and informative, and never fail to introduce me to a book that I've never heard of that I *must have immediately* (in this case Rules of Civility). Keep up the great work!

I am now full of regrets that I didn't pick up the new Towles at BEA. But will start with Rules of Civility and if I like it will get A Gentleman in Moscow!

I got a copy of Rules of Civility earlier this year. Sounds like I need to move it up on my reading list.

I totally get the hype-averse thing😉 guess we must be rebels. I need to get the Soul of an Octopus now. They're my favorite. Ooh Rules of Civility sounds great:)

for a busy month, you did a decent amount of reading, Rules of Civility sounds good but I might just try and read A Gentleman in Moscow first, more my style.

Patti stopped her channel??? 😖😖😖😖 I randomly picked Rules of Civility years ago and I cannot imagine why because the cover was Gatbyesque...(a negative for me).but WOW I loved it also...my copy is signed as I got it at a bookstore in my hometown that only sells signed books!! Then I heard about his new book on Steve's? channel and like you flipped cannot wait to hear your review....the first book leaves you with such s feeling...and then I realized it was his first book....wwhhaasatt??!!

Thanks so much for the Faberge book tip.
Have you read The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey?

Added the rules of civility to my goodreads to be read list...which I'll probably read in a couple of years because of how long my list is

I loved Rules of Civility! I think the title scares people off from reading it. I think Rules of Civility should be read while drinking a martini with jazz music playing in the background. I think it's destined to be a classic and everyone should read it. The book made me want to read Agatha Christie novels. Also, the cover you showed for Rules of Civility is basically the same cover as one of the covers for The Great Gatsby- it's quite similar. I'm not sure if you said if you read- Eve In Hollywood by Amor Towles?

Damn, I need to read The Soul of the Octopus. It has been in the back of my mind, but I definitely want to get to it soon now. Really? The Rules of Civility? I have that on my shelves but am putting it off because it doesn't feel like something I would like much. I bought it on a bookseller recommendation. Oh man, it looks like you have some great things planned in July!!!
