I feel like that was the most subtle yet powerful scene for Ron's character. I noticed that it seems similar or even a parallel for the scene in Deathly Hallows part 1 when Ron came back and refused to destroy the Horcrux. He said "I can't" as well, and that was the moment his huge insecurity all along the HP series was revealed. He was scared, he thought he wasn't good enough. Yet he destroyed the Horcrux, and by that he fought his fears and won. It was already so powerful, and then this scene popped up. He told the person who he believed in and loved to fight their insecurities as well.

In the book when Harry Ron and Hermione were preparing the other students for battle, Ron expressed concern for the house elves in the Hogwarts kitchen. He said that they should save them and not make them fight for the Wizards. Hermione, who had been an advocator for house elf rights since her 4th year was so moved by Ron's compassion that she went over and kissed him passionately. Harry yelled, "What the hell are you two doing?! There's a war going on, would you two hold it in?!" The two become embarrassed and quickly refocus on the task at hand.

“The house-elves, they’ll all be down in the kitchen, won’t
they?”
“You mean we ought to get them fighting?” asked Harry.

We don’t want any more Dobbies, do we? We can’t order them to
die for us —”
There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermi-
one’s arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and
kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broom-
stick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he
lifted Hermione off her feet.
“Is this the moment?” Harry asked weakly, and when nothing
happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still
more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. “OI! There’s
a war going on here!”
Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each
other.
“I know, mate, ” said Ron, who looked as though he had recently
been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, “so it’s now or
never, isn’t it?”
“Never mind that, what about the Horcrux?” Harry shouted.
“D’you think you could just — just hold it in until we’ve got the
diadem?”

This is the most anticipated kiss in cinematic history. I remember the audience erupting in applause when this moment finally arrived after 10 years of build-up.
