If all disease was conquered by immortality I think our brains and personalities would become much better and we would be very optimistic beings. Pessimism I think is what stops people progressing in thought and attitude. Also society does progress in some ways when people with old (past used by date attitudes) die but some new attitudes also bring a lot of problems while some of the old that died were good. Attitudes like slavery or torturous executions or convictions based on hearsay, of the past are thankful for everyone now that they don't exist anymore. Having better thinking ability, I think people would be more agreeable and cohesive with eachother and futility, frustration would decrease. I think it is when people don't see what they could be good at or do because of experiences while growing up or lack of good examples that hedonism and seeking pure pleasure can develop. This may be less likely when peoples brains functioned better. Of course people would be changed from mortal to immortal from some inertia in a mortal society so the influences and attitudes might flow over, to enable both good and bad in those who had become immortal.
