Haha, the "you don't have to wait until you're in the shower to pick off the excess" hit home. 😅 Guilty!!

Only problem with this method is my shaky hand that got me a sloppy manicure is the same shaky hand that ruins the manicure by nudging my cleanup brush too far lol…

I buy qtips that have a point instead of a round tip. I use those with acetone. It's more precise than a brush.

“You don’t even have to wait until you’re in the shower” I feel both called out and seen

The Brazilian way is to first use a toothpick or a larger pick that they sell here specifically for nails, go around the nail as soon as you finished applying the nail polish on that nail, do one by one. Then rap a small cotton piece around the toothpick until it is very tight, dip it in the nail polish remover, and clean it up around the nail.

I went YEARS telling myself I didn't need a cleanup brush. I got one for my birthday 2 years ago and now I cannot live without it !!!

The Wet n Wild thin liner brush from the makeup section at Dollar Tree is my MVP. They're $1.25 each, they last for ages, the bristles are soft but the brush overall is firm. I bought four of them over a year ago I think and I just threw out my first one.

Use the brush to put a thin layer of petroleum jelly around the nail, on the skin. Especially if you're using a red polish because red stains the skin.

Yes! I once had someone ask me if my nails were professionally done. Proud moment. lol!

I use an orange wood stick for pushing back cuticles dipped in either pure acetone or nail polish remover. I find it's easier to control and you always have just enough remover on it to correct mistakes without the possibility of excess you may get with a brush that could ruin your manicure.

I'm messy because I'm uncoordinated, especially when using my non-dominant hand. I'm going to be *just* as uncoordinated with a cleanup brush haha

Your swatches are always so clean! I am terribly sloppy, especially when I paint my right hand with my left. It’s like a crime scene. 😅

This trick was ground-breaking for me!🎉
I can't believe I ever painted my nails without this. 💅👩🏽‍🎨

The smooth line on the cuticle is a GAME CHANGER. I started doing this and I’ve had people ask me how much my manicure was. Plus a good nail polish goes a long way

I have a secret to tell you all. Professional nail techs do that, too. The spa I work at has clean up brushes on each station. lol

Another trick is to paint a thin coat of washable white glue on the skin around your nail. Paint your nails. When your nails are dry just wash the glue off.

I used to avoid doing my nails because I made such a mess. And then I learned this trick a few years ago and have been doing my nails whenever I can!!! That then opened the door for me to practice more, and now I rarely have to touch up any messy spots!! It's a great trick while you're learning better control. And especially if you don't have the best motor functions! Absolute game changer!

You can also lightly brush Elmer's glue around your nail, then peel it off after your nails dry. Its super easy, plus you get to peel it off your hands like we all did when we were kids lol😊

in brazil we use a wooden stick with a point and after every coat of polish we scrape around the nail. When it’s dry we cover the stick with cotton dip in acetone and go around the cuticle
