So I was in the middle of editing this video when the Kostornaia transfer rumours started coming out. I comment about it at the end of the video which was a spontaneous add on. From what I understand it is confirmed that her and eteri have talked but the official decision is unknown. It is all in tutberidze’s hands if she will be able to return. The transfer games have officially begun!

One note - it was always like this. It's just that there was no Internet around. But there were massive scandals before - like Yagudin vs Plushenko with Yagudin changing the coach, with coaches changing the country etc. It was highlighted in the press and on TV. +another fun fact. Skaters from Mishin are called the Petersburgh's mafia sometimes XD There is some strange scoring under the question that's why.

Plushenko's village reminds me of the Victors' Village in The Hunger Games lol.

Elizaveta Tutkamysheva is by no means a recent success. She is a 2015 World Champion, 2014 GPF champion and 2015 European champion. She has won several other medals, but 2014-2015 was her season.

I wasn't really into the Ladies category, not because I don't think they are amazing, but there is so much happening all the time and it's difficult to follow up with the heaps of new skaters every season, while men's has been more "predictable" (but in no way boring!), so it's easier to keep up. But thanks to the pandemic and the very informative videos on this channel I've been able to focus on the beautiful train wreck that is the russian ladie's category and now I LIVE for this drama 🍿

As much as I love Team Mishin, but in that picture at 3:30 he looks like the godfather and you can't convince me otherwise. What a powerful picture. Love the energy.

6:32 your comment about doubting whether being taught by your parent is a good idea: sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. A couple examples I know where parent coaching has been successful/semi successful: Yuma Kagiyama of Japan is taught by his father. He has shown some stellar domestic and international results so far. And then there is Maxim Naumov of the US, who is taught by both of his parents (father teaches technical skills and mother choreographs, I think?) and he has performed and placed well on some occasions both domestically and internationally as well during his junior career. There are probably other examples I don't know of off the top of my head. But like you said, we'll just have to wait and see whether the Zhilinas will improve under their mother's coaching or not.

Wow ! Never realised how competitive it was behind the scenes, no wonder Russian skating is so successful

And the honorable mention goes to... Maxim Tran'kov, who has just started his training career, and could prove to be a dark horse, especially with Morozov/Tarasova under his wing...

for some reason YT deleted this comment and i feel like the world needs to see it; Amy Yan commented: "So there is the hot sergei, the nice sergei, and the CSKA sergei LOL"

It's very funny to me how they are discussing if Alyona can go back, while they didn't even give her her documents back in the first place. So *technically* she could''ve literally just walk in and act as if her transfer to Plushenko didn't happene xd

Your Russian is so good! I'm Russian and I appreciate the work u do. Everything in the video is so accurate, explanation is so freaking full and complex wow. Not many Russian fans know the drama like you do, that's it. Keep going, the content you do is mind-blowing
A little thing to note: Maiia Khromykh (pronunciation is like Hromyh, where H letter sounds like in hello, heavy, high etc.)
And there are very few little mistakes, but who actually cares😅

Love the commentary. She has trouble pronouncing "Petersburg" but the Russian names just roll off her tongue so fluently. I enjoy your analysis btw. Thank you.

The Zhilina sisters being coached by their mother is a huge mistake :' with Alena gone I hope Rozanov takes them on again. Please!

Uggh I don't like the focus on coaches and schools. I've never seen in other sports where the coaches and schools of where the athletes trained are more famous than the athletes themselves. This is not healthy because 1) the silly competition between schools and bashing when 1 athlete leaves 1 school to other and 2) it shows that the athlete itself is less important than the school. This also drives the image of "factory model" where when 1 athlete expire and no longer competitive, there will be the next one to take the place. It's so uncomfortable to see this "model" happening in figure skating in Russia. If this continues, you won't have a Yuna, a Mao, or a Kostner because no athletes can make their name due to how short their career while the schools continue to take the glory of winning medals from their disposable athletes.
