While exploring the backroads and tucked away areas of the Land Between the Lakes, we find evidence of a campground seemingly destroyed in an apparent attempt to hide its very existence, but why? A coverup?

LBL native here, and someone that's visiting the area would think the LBL was Kentucky/Tennessee's own Chernobyl. There is a lot of things here that cannot be explained, some that seems as if an entire community just fled and never returned, and/or everything was demolished to erase any remembrance of what used to be. On top of that, the feel of abandonment along with all of the "ghost town" areas will make the hair on your neck stand up.

The LBL seriously just gives me the creeps... I actually remember hearing about the bumpus mills incident and I do believe the woman who's dogs were killed, her brother in law or herself, I cant exactly remember, but someone shared the encounter on youtube.

I may sound crazy but I'm beginning to suspect that government entities in power may not be closing areas off in order to protect the public, but maybe the closing of areas are to allow more feeding grounds and research on the creatures. I would hate to be a live bait turned loose in there not knowing what coming for me

They did the same here in Missouri. A family had a dogman sighting and they closed the park for hog hunting. I saw where they posted it on Facebook too. I also noticed the brown closed gates happen to be the areas with cryptid activity and reports.

Love seeing your adventures! I spent some time at the LBL primitive camping and hunting in the seventies and early eighties. Not anymore….

I had a great-aunt that had property in that area and we camped in her cabin one time. After that we only count one more time and we took our boat and went out to one of the islands on one of the legs but I was too young to know which one. Even as a youngster I was in the avid outdoorsman and camper but I felt so we didn't camp there anymore and I asked my dad why he was like oh well it's just not a good spot.

I grew up stomping around those woods in the 70's and early 80's. Camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and just exploring.
I've probably been down every road and trail there and camped at most every campground there. I never once saw any sign of wild hogs, though they may have encroached there since I moved to Florida.
The area y'all were hiking seems eerily familiar, but I can't recall the name for it. Pretty sure my parents took us camping there a few times in the mid-70's. It had bathrooms, showers, and it even had a basketball court.
It is creepy seeing it demolished, abandoned, and barricaded now.
