The 180 Metre Roughcastle Canal was built to replace the flight of locks that once joined the Union and Forth & Clyde Canals. It was necessary because the World Heritage Site Antonine Wall crosses the canal link. It was one of the first canal tunnels built for a 100 years in the UK.

Hee! Thanks for filming and narrating this! I've only been to Falkirk once, but in the winter when the boats were wisely under cover and the wheel still. Can't wait to get back and see it all in action - thanks much for giving me my Sterlingshire fix!
