I see lots of excuses in the comments today! Make all the excuses you want. 100 Million Americans have no money in retirement. 61% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Excuses will not fix this problem!

the wage isn’t honest that’s the issue. it’s not that people don’t want to work it’s jobs don’t want to pay. and people feel it’s not worth it to spend all your live working and still die broke

I hear a lot about lazy workers but no one wants to talk about lazy management. I’ve always worked hard working 2, 3 jobs. One year I took my income check & paid for dental assistant classes. I finished top of my class & left excited to practice my new skill. Only to be disappointed cause no one wanted to hire me they all wanted 1, 2 year working experience. I asked how does someone get their foot in the door to gain experience? I was told to volunteer. I’m an adult with a child & bills. They were too lazy to train people & my skills went to waste. They want years of experience while offering crap pay.

A lot of jobs don't pay enough to make employees feel like it's worth it these days. This is largely about cost of living to a lot of people. Older generations struggle to understand this because things were not nearly as expensive when they were that age. Working for them meant that they could afford a house and a car, etc. These kids nowadays can't afford any of that even when they have jobs.

I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

You completely forgot to mention the Massive inflation we deal with. Many people are working long hours just to barely afford to pay rent in someone room or live in the car. As much as I like your channel, it awful how you don't acknowledge that the money you made in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, went a lot further than it does now, and it's only getting worse. Back in the 80s, and 90s you could afford to have your own home and family with just a simple job, which also made it far easier to start a business.... There is no maybe about you losing touch with whats going on.... you have you nice cars and house so you look at us work hard, get a job, and living the american dream. When this generation is up against far tougher challenges than your time in the past.

I had a job earning 110k annually The company began to put systems and processes in place that made the job super stressful so I voluntarily resigned after 13 years I didn’t like being under a microscope. They didn’t want me to leave told me take a week and “think” about it but I knew I was done. Best decision I’ve ever made. 2 years and hella challenges later I’m still in business for myself. Even with the financial difficulties of owning a business I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE PLANTATION!!

The workers have finally realized their worth and $13/15 an hour while producing thousands of dollars worth of product isn’t a “fair” living wage. As a whole Companies need to stop being greedy and pay workers more, even if it’s through achievable incentives. For example at 21 I worked for Sprint corporate retail. I was a top 15% seller in the region and I made between 60-70k..I thought I was doing something.. when I looked back on it and did the residual math I sold like 3.5 million worth of products and services. This current workforce understands it. I pay my workers $4-5 more than industry average. I make a little less but I value my time more than the extra coin.

People are burning out, because the system has steadily declined over the years. Wages have not kept up with the cost of living, and employers want employees to do the work of multiple people (constantly working short, saving them money) while not earning enough to keep up with the cost of living. People seem to be more unhappy, and their mental health is being affected, because they're finding it hard to survive without spending all of their time at a job they hate. This system is not sustainable. No human wants to spend all of their time in survival mode. I'm a nurse, and I'm going into my later 50's. I see how it used to be, compared to how it is now. You definitely need to formulate a financial plan while you're younger, so it will pay off later, but a lot of people are struggling just to maintain themselves from week to week.

I think the answer is complicated. Companies are saying they're hiring but most prefer to hire from within to keep costs low and publish positions as a legally necessary formality. Also, worker demands for living wages has employers hiring a fraction of the workers they had pre-2020 and burdening workers with more work than they had pre-2020 all while claiming they can't find workers. I am nearly 50 and as a teen it was a rare sight to see adults working in fast food and other jobs that my generation considered teen jobs. Nowadays, it is normal to see adults working in those kind of jobs. With all due respect, the world 20 somethings face is not what previous generations have. My grandmother brought two homes and took a nice vacation every year working as a CNA of sorts for the state. Today, CNA's need food stamps and housing subsidies to survive. It is not the same system.

It’s because of greed. Just look at inflation. Corporations are bringing in record numbers at the expense of decreasing wages/cutting jobs.

The teacher shortage is different. Teachers are tired of uncompetitive salaries, disrespectful & abusive students & parents, unsupportive administrators & people outside the classroom adopting horrible curricula & passing harmful mandates. Most veteran teachers I know have been assaulted by students multiple times.

Working hasn’t made generational wealth for the working poor. American dream is a nightmare at best.

COVID shifted the psyche of people as a whole. People experienced alot of loss (loss of loved ones, jobs, homes) during Covid and experienced a type of cabin fever where either the worst or the best of ppl came out. Ppl had a chance to see how fragile life is and especially after COVID most ppl want to spend their time "living" (virtually or realistically) the life they want. That, seems to be the current focus regardless of the ends.

I’ve worked hard and make a good living but when you understand that the economy does not care one bit about you and they will lay you off after working at a place for 10 years and not even care then you start to look at work differently. I think the biggest issue is that nobody trusts institutions including businesses anymore. Just over the past 20 years we’ve seen the country lied into wars, Wall Street bankers nearly destroying the global economy with no consequences, a completely dysfunctional political system and social media distorting reality. Our whole system needs to change.

I worked for a very unprofessional company with nasty supervisors. The clinical supervisor told me it was a “shit show.” The things we had to endure was not worth the pay. They even fired a coworker days after his father passed. These companies treat you like crap for pennies and expect you to take it. Nonetheless, I resigned and couldn’t be more happy.

It’s not an employee issue. Just look at the average salary compared to the price of an average house. That has nothing to do with people not wanting to work

Remember, this man is from a previous generation and he made his money during that generation. DO NOT WORK for slave wages. You have a right to work at establishments that pay you a LIVING WAGE! Gone are the days of company loyalty

I make high six figures and I want to quit my job. I learned what I value, and it's not sitting behind a desk for 12 hours a day. Great content and great discussion.

Now 60% of Americans are unable to meet an emergency expense. They take their car to get fixed as most cities have shitty public transpo. And that limits employability also. Then a predator loan company gets them for the repair cost. Here in Omaha NE it was 196.98 interest rate and legal if you sign on the line and desperate cause the first 90 are 0%. The poor get r a ped all the time. Rents are becoming astronomical and my son only makes 17.50 an hr and has to buy tools! He also loves his work. He has family court, child support and transpo issues. It is a hard, hard life here. And most people are sick of it. Working, working and not getting anywhere and for nothing but stress. What you aren't taking into consideration Richard is this SYSTEM LIVES OFF other people. So that 60% that are barely making it are the ones the rest profiting somehow are TAKING from. This system is PREDATORY. People are getting hip to that but not enough to really "get" it. It is a slave system. An anti-life system that is destroying people and planet. Toxic on all levels. We are all numbered and chatteled. Forced to pay, pay, pay, pay, pay, pay, pay to get thru the day. Sell ourselves and our children. And then the victims get blamed. Look at what is happening in Hawaii. Now those with money are trying to profit off the tragedy and take more from the people. It is a predatory system.
